Pakistan on Thursday (14 May 2026) welcomed the voices being raised in India which are emphasizing the need for dialogue between the two countries, although the Modi government has repeatedly said that terrorism and talks cannot go together. Pakistan has said that dialogue and constructive cooperation are extremely important to promote peace, security and shared prosperity. Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi was asked a question about the comments of former Army Chief General (retd) Manoj Naravane. Naravane has supported the statement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dattatreya Hosabale that the doors should always remain open for dialogue with Pakistan.

He said, “Voices pushing for dialogue within India are definitely a positive development. We hope that there will be understanding in India. We will certainly see whether there is any official response to these voices in India. Andrabi, however, refused to confirm or deny the indirect communication between the two countries. He said, “I have no information about negotiations behind the scenes or through any other means and do not want to comment on it.” If I comment on this, the meaning of the talks behind the scenes will be lost, because this is a completely confidential process.

Peace, security and shared prosperity are essential

Andrabi also said that Pakistan believes that constructive partnership and honest dialogue are essential in pursuing peace, security and shared prosperity for all. “We are firmly committed to the principles of diplomacy, respect for sovereignty and meaningful international engagement to pave the way towards regional stability and global harmony,” he said. To another question, he said Pakistani troops across the Line of Control remain alert to “any misadventure, firing, any violation of the ceasefire”.

Also read- RSS Sarkaryavah Hosabale’s suggestion to the government, ‘The path of dialogue with Pakistan should remain open’

Whose role will be played in America-Iran peace talks?

On US-Iran peace talks, he said that Pakistan is playing its role for lasting peace between the two sides. He also said that the peace process is ongoing and “it is sustainable.” He said, “We are connected to this process and remain optimistic.” The responsibility of taking peace talks forward lies primarily with both the major parties. Pakistan, on its part, is playing an active role in this.

Then again Kashmir Raga!

Pakistani spokesperson alleged that incidents like arrests, demolition of houses, imprisonment without trial and torture are continuing in Indian-administered Kashmir. He claimed that UN human rights bodies and international organizations are aware of these incidents and Pakistan will continue to raise the issue. Experts believe that on one hand Pakistan is talking about talks, but on the other hand it is not showing any signs of retreating from its traditional stance by keeping the Kashmir issue at the centre. In such a situation, real softening of relations between the two countries does not seem easy at the moment.
