Malta, on Monday (September 22, 2025), is going to announce a formal recognition of Palestine as an independent country at the United Nations General Assembly. Malta’s Prime Minister’s Office gave this information. He said that he too is joining the group of countries taking this step.

According to ‘The Times of Israel’, Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela planned to recognize the Palestinian country in May. The island of the Mediterranean European Union has a history of supporting Palestinian issues and has supported the efforts of the two-state solution while maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel. The wife of former Palestinian leader Yasar Arafat had been on the island for many years.

Class of flour sent by Malta

Late on Sunday night, Abela, while mentioning the help being sent to Gaza through a Facebook post, said that on the eve of recognition to Palestine, the consignment of the flour donated by Malta was delivered. He said that recognizing Palestine is ‘historic’ and Malta is committed to establish peace in the region.

A day earlier i.e. on Sunday (September 21, 2025), after Canada and Australia, the UK announced to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign country. The British PM Keer Stmper expressed his intention through a long-wide video post. However, Israel strongly opposed the move.

Israeli PM’s message to other countries

After Hamas’s massacre of October 7, 2023, Israel described Palestine’s unilateral recognition as a ‘award for terror’. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I will respond to this new attempt to impose a terrorist state on our land after returning from America.”

Addressing the governments of the three countries, he said, ‘After the horrific massacre of October 7, I have a clear message for the leaders who recognize the Palestinian country that you are giving a big reward to terror and I have another message for you that nothing like this is going to happen. There will be no Palestinian country in the west of the Jordan River.

On Friday (August 22, 2025) amidst the Israeli-Pilistine dispute, the United Nations officially announced a famine in Gaza, the first famine in the Middle East. According to the expert, 5,00,000 people are facing terrible starvation in this famine.

United Nations Assistance Head Tom Fletcher said that food was not able to reach these areas of Palestine due to Israeli barriers, otherwise this famine could be stopped. At the same time, Israeli’s Foreign Ministry gave its response, reversing this statement of UN.

IPC report based on Hamas’s lie

Criticizing the report of the IPC panel in Rome, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that this report is based on the lies of Hamas spread through selfish organizations. He said that there is no famine in Gaza.

The IPC panel of Rome said on Friday that the famine has been confirmed in the province and city of Gaza, which is about 20 percent of the Gaza Strip by 15 August 2025. He said that by the end of September, the impact of the famine is expected to be increased to the Der al-Balah and Khan Unis provinces, which will engulf about two-thirds of Palestine.

More than 5 lakh people victims of starvation in Gaza Strip

The IPC panel report said that after 22 months of fierce war, more than 5 lakh people in Gaza Strip are facing terrible conditions like starvation and death and now by the end of September, this number is expected to increase to 641,000, which is about one third of the total population.

Citing this report, the IPC said that this has been due to large -scale displacement and ban in Gaza due to the war between terrible starvation, Israel and Hamas. In the beginning of March after the war began between the two countries, Israeli banned the support supply in Gaza, causing a huge shortage of food, medicine and goods there.

Agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries destroyed in Gaza

The IPC said that the estimated 98 percent of the agricultural land in Gaza Strip has either been destroyed, has become inaccessible or both have become. Livestock is destroyed and fishing has been banned. Apart from this, the health system has also deteriorated badly, while there has been a huge decrease in access to safe drinking water and adequate hygiene.
