The department has described its deadline on 31 July 2025. In such a situation, if your permanent account number ie PAN card is not active or is not linked to Aadhaar card, then you will not be able to fill your ITR. Actually, many people do not know whether their PAN card is active or not. Even today, many people are not linked to the Aadhaar of PAN, because they can check the position of their PAN card sitting at home. Many times the PAN is not linked with Aadhaar and the ITR is rejected. Let’s know how you can link it to Aadhaar and how PAN card status can be detected.

In this way, check the PAN card status sitting at home

A-a- First of all visit the Income Tax Department website https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.

B- Click on “Verify Pan Status” in the “Quick Links” section on the left.

C- After this a new page will open, where you have to fill your PAN number, full name, date of birth and registered mobile number. Click on “Continue”.

D-d- An OTP will come on your registered mobile, entering the website and click on “Validate”.

E- If your PAN is active, the message will come on the screen: “Pan is active and details are as per pan.”

Check the status of PAN base in this way

1- For this, first go to UIDAI’s website https://uidai.gov.in/.
2- Here you will get the manu of Aadhaar services, click on and click on Status.
3- After this, PAN number will have to be entered and the Captcha code will have to be filled.
4- After this, click on Get Linking Status to check the status of PAN and Aadhaar Licking.
5- After this you will know in a few minutes whether your PAN and Aadhaar link is there or not.

Process to link PAN-Aadhaar-

1- To link PAN to Aadhaar, you should first visit the income tax e-filing website www.incometax.gov.in.
2- Enter further login details.
3- Then go to the Quick section and fill your PAN, Aadhaar number and mobile number there.
4- After this, one has to choose the option of ‘I Validate My Aadhaar Details’.
5- Finally, OTP will come on your registered mobile number, which will be recorded here.
6- By paying a fine of Rs 1,000 in the last, you will be able to easily link both of you.
