Parvez Rasool, the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to play international cricket for the country, has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. This marked the end of his 17-year-illustrious career, in which he had consistently performed well and achieved many achievements. Parvez made his ODI debut for India in 2014. In 2017, he played the first T20 match for India.

The 36-year-old all-rounder from Bijbehara in south Kashmir, who has become a ray of hope for young cricketers in the valley, informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision. Rasool has represented India in one ODI and one T20 international match. Apart from this, he has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Pune Warriors and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Parvez Rasool told reporters that he is proud to be a part of the growth story of Jammu and Kashmir cricket. Over the years, Rasool has established himself as a reliable all-rounder, scoring 5,648 runs and taking 352 wickets in first-class cricket. For his consistently good performances in domestic cricket, he was twice awarded the prestigious Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in Ranji Trophy. He received this award in 2013-14 and 2017-18. His stellar performance in 2012–13, where he scored 594 runs and took 33 wickets, paved the way for his entry into the national team and the IPL.

Parvez Rasool had taken two wickets in an ODI played for India. His batting did not come there. Apart from this, Parvez Rasool, who played a T20 International match for the country, took one wicket and scored five runs. Apart from this, Parvez played a total of 11 matches in IPL. He has 17 runs and 4 wickets in his name in IPL. Parvez played ODI against Bangladesh and T20 match against England.

One youth was killed in an encounter between police and suspected drug smugglers on Thursday (July 24) in Jammu city, while the other person was detained. The deceased has been identified as Parvez. According to the information, the police team was chasing suspected smugglers in Mandal area of Satwari police station area.

During this time, he was fired. A person was injured in retaliation, who was admitted to GMC Jammu for treatment. At the same time, the injured Parvez died, due to which there has been a lot of resentment among the local people and family members.

In fact, the police team had received information from drug smugglers, after which they started chasing them with their team. Police also started firing on the other side in Mandal area under Satwari police station area. One youth was killed in retaliation firing from the police, and another was detained. The injured person has been admitted to the Government Medical College. Senior police officers reached the spot and started investigating the case.

Family members’ protests in hospital

After the death of Parvez in counter -firing by the police, his family and a large number of local people reached GMC Hospital and started protests. Outside the GMC hospital, chaos became a atmosphere of Tafri. The family was angry. He has accused the police that Parvez was innocent and he was killed in a fake encounter.

The protesters demanded a fair inquiry and said that a judicial inquiry should be conducted in the incident. In view of the situation, security has been increased in the hospital and additional police force has also been deployed.
