But recently, the facility of e-passport has also started in India. Which is the advance and more secured version of the current passport. It was launched by the Ministry of External Affairs on 1 April 2024 as a pilot project.

What is e-Passport?

The process of applying for e-passport is similar to normal passport. Passport Seva Portal will have to login to the form and fill the form, choose the nearest passport service center and take an appointment and conduct a document verification. Right now this facility is only at selected centers, but soon it will be implemented across the country.

What is the process of application?

Online application for passport can be given in India and online service for renewal can be used https://www.passportindia.gov.in/PSP. The Ministry of External Affairs has abolished the marriage certificate to add its spouse’s name to the passport after marriage. For this, the autonomous certificate has now been recognized. Now people will get the option of Annexure J.

On which he will be able to upload his wedding photo and joint photo. On which both of them will be signed. So at the same time, some information will also have to be recorded in it. This document will be considered as a marriage certificate. Based on this, the name of the husband and wife will be added to the passport.
