Patna’s NEET student incident has embarrassed the government. Meanwhile, Nitish government has now taken a big step regarding the safety of girl students and working women in Bihar. New guidelines have been issued for all the girls hostels and lodges running across the state. Under these instructions, registration of every girls hostel and lodge has now been made mandatory. Also, special emphasis has been laid on giving women a secure life with equal opportunities and respect.

Appointment of 24 hour female warden is mandatory

According to the new rules, it will be mandatory to appoint 24-hour female wardens in all girls hostels and lodges. Apart from this, it will be necessary to get police verification done for all the employees including wardens, guards, cooks and sweepers. To strengthen the security system, CCTV cameras will be installed at the main gate, corridors, dining area and the entire campus of the hostel, the recording of which will have to be kept safe for at least 30 days.

Name and number will have to be entered in the visitor register

It has also been made mandatory to have adequate lighting, better cleanliness system, strong door-locks and iron mesh windows in hostels. The name, mobile number and Aadhaar number of every person visiting the hostel will have to be entered in the visitor register. There will be a complete ban on men’s entry into the room section. At the same time, emphasis has also been laid on installing biometric system to ensure the attendance of girl students and staff at night.

To deal with emergencies, posters with information related to number 112, local police station, women’s help desk and Abhaya Brigade will be put up in hostels. Girl students will also be given training in using the security features of 112 India App.

There will be no compromise on the safety of girls and women

Police, Women Help Desk and Abhaya Brigade will jointly check the hostels regularly to monitor security. Immediate action will be taken if information about any suspicious or criminal activity is received. The administration has made it clear that there will be no compromise on the safety of girls and women and the guidelines will be strictly followed.
