Personal Computer (PC) market has increased rapidly in the last few years in the country. Last year PC sales increased to about 1.44 crore units. This is an increase of about 3.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. American computing devices maker HP has the highest stake in this market.

Market Research firm IDC Report According to, PC shipments have increased by about 3.8 percent to about 1.44 million units last year. Lenovo is second in this market. This is followed by dell, acer and asus. The IDC has stated that the increase in government purchases and more demand for PC with AI features are the main reasons behind the increase in PC shipments. Last year, shipments of notebooks have increased by about 4.5 percent, desktops shipments by 1.8 percent and workstation shipments by 10.9 percent.

PC’s total market increased by about 6.9 percent in the fourth quarter of the previous year. It contributes to a 9.6 percent increase in sales of notebooks. Shipments of the premium notebook increased by 13.8 percent last year. The consumer segment has a growth of 2.6 percent on a year-on-year basis and 5.1 percent in the commercial segment. Last year, enterprise and government segment has increased by 10.6 percent on a year-on-year basis. HP has secured the first position in the PC market with a 30.1 percent stake. The government and enterprise segments for the company have increased by about 14.7 percent and 14.3 percent respectively. However, its sales have been reduced by about 7.5 percent from the consumer segment. China’s Lenovo has a second rank with a stake of about 17.2 percent. The consumer and commercial segments for the company have increased by seven percent and 7.4 percent respectively. Apart from this, sales have also increased to the enterprise segment.

The market ranks third with 16.1 percent stake in this market. Acer has finished fourth with a stake of 15.1 percent. Acer has recorded the highest growth among the top five companies of this market. The company has got the advantage of giving discounts and increasing sales through e-commerce. The sales in the consumer segment of Acer have increased by 48.4 percent on a year-on-year basis. Asus is ranked fifth with a share of about seven percent in this market. Last year, this company has gained 18.4 percent growth in the commercial segment on a year-by-year basis.

The shipments of tablets in the country have increased by more than 42 percent last year. Samsung, the electronics maker in South Korea, ranks first in this market. Last year, the sales of tablets have increased to more than about 57.3 lakh units. However, in the fourth quarter of the previous year, this market has decreased by about 17 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Market Research Firm International Data Corporation (IDC) Report According to, tablets are being preferred for productivity and entertainment due to increasing price of notebook PC and improvement in Android features. Last year in the country, tablets of tablets have increased by about 42.8 percent to about 57.3 lakh units on a year-on-year basis. This data is based on IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing device Tracker. This report states that the consumer segment of tablets has increased by 19.2 percent due to promotional offers and discounts. Samsug holds about 24.4 percent stake in this segment. Last year, the segment of commercial tablets has increased by about 69.7 percent on a year-on-year basis.

The government segment has recorded a growth of about 104.5 percent on a year-on-year basis due to the government funding projects. In this report, IDC’s analyst, Priyansh Tiwari has reported that some of the PC buyers have also shifted to this segment from better camera, software updates and app integration in Android tablets. Increasing the price of Notebook PC due to components being expensive is also a major reason behind the increase in sales of tablets.

This report said that more than 60 percent of the tablets of the tablets were from 60 percent of the tablets last year. The price of this tablets is $ 300 (about 26,300 rupees) or less. The average selling price (ASP) of the total shipments of tablets in the consumer segment increased from about $ 309 to about $ 336 last year. Samsung has secured the first position in the tablet’s market with about 42.6 percent stake.
