Child specialist Dr. Yashwant Rao says that children are losing so fast in social media and virtual world of online games that like, comments and virtual identity have become everything for him. This is affecting their mental and physical health. If your child is also struggling with this problem, then some effective methods can be adopted to get him out of this virtual world.

Decide the rules of digital use: Determine screen time limit for your child. You can use timer or app for this. No-screen zones like bedrooms, dining tables etc. at home. Gadgets should not be allowed here. Priority of family time by keeping gadgets away during dinner or conversation.

Be an example yourself: Children learn by looking at the elders, so reduce your screen time too. Stay away from gadgets and play board games with children, read books, go to park or learn a new hobby.

Promote physical activities: Include your child in new hobbies like painting, music, dance, sports or gardening. Encourage them to play out with friends and add to nature. Especially make sure to play in the park.

Talk openly: Try to understand why children are spending so much time in the online world. Tell them about cyberbulling and online dangers. Instead of imposing the rules, include them in the process of making rules, so that they cooperate.

Take help from doctors too: If the child is not able to stay away from gadgets in any way and the situation seems serious then consider taking help from a child psychologist or counselor. They can give the correct guidelines.
