8th Pay Commission News: Just yesterday, the Finance Ministry has issued a memorandum and implemented the 8th pay scale of central employees. After which many employee unions have become active. Unhappy with this decision of the government, the employee organizations have submitted their new demand letter to the Commission, in which they have demanded an increase in the minimum basic salary. Unions say that the current salary is not appropriate according to the rising inflation, hence it should be amended.

What is the whole matter?
In fact, as part of the process of formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC), the Central Government has opened an opportunity to take suggestions and opinions. In which Bharatiya Immunity Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS) has submitted its demand letter. In this demand letter, major changes have been demanded in the salary structure of central government employees. The union says that the basic pay should be increased to Rs 72,000 per month. Which is four times the current salary of Rs 18,000 prescribed under the 7th CPC.

According to a report by Livemint, through this proposal such an amount is being fixed which will take care of the current economic situation and the needs of the employees. BPMS says that if these changes are accepted, entry level employees will be able to get a stable and better standard of living.

What else are the demands of the union?
In another demand, the union has said that the fitment factor should be increased from the current 2.57 to 4.0. Because it decides how much the basic salary of an employee will increase. If the fitment factor is increased to 4.0 in the 8th Pay Commission, then the salary of the employees will increase significantly. Apart from this, the union has also demanded to fix the Dearness Allowance (DA) properly, so that the income of the employees is protected from the impact of rising inflation.
