Petrol-Diesel Rate Today on April 26: Petrol and diesel prices impact the human pocket, which are updated every morning by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). Its prices are decided on the basis of crude oil prices in the international market and the dollar-rupee exchange rate. Its prices affect everyone from auto-rickshaw drivers to office goers. As for today, today on April 26, the prices of petrol and diesel remain stable in major cities of the country, while the tension in West Asia is at its peak due to the war in Iran. Due to this, the interruption in energy supply through the Strait of Hormuz seems to be affecting the entire world.

How is the price of petrol and diesel decided?

As already said, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country are decided on the basis of international crude oil prices. Both petrol and diesel are produced from crude oil, hence the increase in prices in the global oil market affects the fuel rates in the country.

Apart from this, heavy taxes are imposed on petrol and diesel by both the central and state governments. This is the reason why the rates of petrol and diesel differ in states. The retail price seen by consumers at the pump also includes transportation costs and prevailing demand-supply conditions.

Also, crude oil is refined to make it usable. The expenses incurred on this also determine the prices of petrol and diesel. The cost of refining generally depends on the quality of the crude oil and the capacity of the refinery.

India imports large quantities of crude oil, which is purchased in dollars. In such a situation, if the rupee weakens against the dollar, then the cost of importing crude oil increases. This affects consumers also.

Petrol-Diesel Rate Today on April 25: Today, on Saturday 25th April, there is no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in India. At the same time, price fluctuations still continue in the global crude oil markets. Despite fluctuations in international oil prices and currency exchange rates, retail fuel prices in the country remain stable. At present there has been no change in the rates of petrol and diesel in many big cities of the country.

Rates released every morning

India’s three major oil marketing companies (OMCs) — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) — release petrol and diesel prices every morning at 6 am based on changes in international crude oil prices and the dollar-rupee exchange rate. These prices affect everyone from a vegetable seller to an auto-rickshaw driver. In such a situation, it is important to be aware of the daily prices. However, prices have remained stable in recent times.

Will fuel prices increase?

The news of a possible increase in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 25-28 per liter after the assembly elections being held in many states of the country is going viral these days, denying which the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) said in a post on X, “There is no such proposal under consideration of the government.”

The Government of India said on Thursday that state-owned oil companies are incurring a loss of about Rs 20 per liter on petrol and about Rs 100 per liter on diesel because despite the rise in global oil prices, pump prices have remained stable for the last four years. The ministry said there is no immediate plan to increase retail fuel rates.
