At this time the population of the whole world is crossing 800 crores. According to the report of the worldometer, the biggest stake in it is that of Islam and Christianity, but the recent Pew Research Center Report 2025 has made a big disclosure on religious trends. According to the report, 1 out of every 10 adults under the age of 55 have renounced the religion that he had been playing since childhood. This is considered to be a sign of major changes in the religious scenario.

Christians are at the forefront of the list of renunciation of religion. It has seen a more decline. According to the report of the Pew Research Center Report 2025, 17.1 of the 100 Christians left religion and only 5.5% of the people have adopted Christianity. In this way, there was a net loss of 11.6% in total. These figures clearly show that Christianity is suffering the most from conversion globally.

High figures in both quitting and adopting Buddhism
Talking about the Buddhism present in the world, 22.1% of the 100 Buddhists left religion, which is the most in all religions. At the same time, 12.3% of people adopted Buddhism. In this way the net loss was 9.8%. The retention rate of Buddhism is only 78%, which makes it the weakest in maintaining followers.

The biggest benefit of nones people
People unrelated with religion (called Nones in English) are currently registering the biggest growth. Out of 100, 24.2% of the people left religion and became unrelated. 7.5% of the people left unrelatedness and joined some religion. There has been a total increase of 16.7%. It makes it clear that in today’s generation, the distance from faith and the trend of adopting religious freedom is increasing rapidly.

Stability in Muslim and Hinduism
In the world, where people of many religions are renouncing their basic religion, the rate of conversion in Islam and Hinduism is very low. The number of those who leave and adopt religion is almost equal. Socio-cultural strength and family commitment are considered to be the main reason behind this stability. The Pew Research Report explained the direct connection between Un Human Development Index (HDI) on conversion. In HDi 0.8 or more countries (eg America, Canada, Europe), 18% of adults left their childhood religion. Only 3% of people left religion in countries with a country with a country below 0.55 (such as Africa and parts of South Asia). This data shows that the higher education, income and freedom, the greater the possibility of conversion and unrelatedness.

Pew Research report on religion: Many religions live in the world, whose population is more than 800 crores. According to the report of the worldometer, the largest population of these 800 crores is of those who believe in Islam and Christianity. However, in the meantime the Pew Research Report has made a survey -based disclosure that 1 in 10 adults under the age of 55 in the world have left their childhood religion.

According to the report of the Pew Research Center, Christianity has suffered the most net loss due to conversion globally. According to statistics, 17.1 out of every 100 people, who grew up in Christianity, left religion. There were only 5.5 people who adopted Christianity. That is, the net loss of 11.6 people in total. This decline in followers of Christianity is a matter of concern.

High rate of conversion in Buddhism
Buddhist figures are also no less shocking. Out of 100 Buddhists, 22.1 people left religion, which is the highest among all religions. At the same time, 12.3 people adopted Buddhism, due to which the net loss was 9.8. That is, the activity of conversion in Buddhism is being seen on both sides – both leaving and adopting religion. The retention rate is only 78%, this religion is behind in maintaining its followers.

The most benefit of religious religious people
An important fact in this report also revealed that religiously unrelated people have benefited the most. Out of 100, 24.2 people left religious affiliation and became unrelated, while only 7.5 left unrelatedness and joined some religion. In this way, 16.7 got a net profit. This shows that the distance from faith is increasing in today’s generation and the trend of adopting religious freedom has intensified.

Stability in Muslim and Hinduism
The rate of conversion in Muslim and Hindu religions has been quite stable. The number of those who leave and adopt religion is almost equal. Therefore, these religions did not have any special benefit or loss. This can probably be due to the socio-cultural strength of these communities and family/community commitment related to religion.

Which countries have the highest conversion?
Conversion is common in high HDi countries. From the United Nations Human Development Index (HDI) it is clear that 18% of adults left their childhood religion there. These countries are associated with more educational levels, high income and freedom, which makes people adopt independent ideology more. Only 3% of people leave their childhood religion in countries where HDi scores are less than 0.55 (eg part of Africa and South Asia). The reason for this may be, religious social pressure, legal restrictions or traditional structure should be the reason.

Pew Researh Report on Islam: The latest report of Pew Research Center states that in the coming 35 years, Islam religion will become the fastest growing religion in the world. According to Pew report, by 2060, the estimated figure of Muslim population will be more than 3 billion. At present, the total Muslim population in the world is about 2 billion at present. The population rate, conversion rate and young Muslim population are being held responsible for increasing the number of Muslims in the coming time. Islam is not only growing on the basis of birth rate, but the rate of maintaining its identity is also very high.

Pew survey (in 13 countries) has revealed that more than 90% of people who grew up in Muslim families still consider themselves Muslims. Only in the US, this number decreases to about 74%, which is less than the rest of the countries. Christianity is the lowest number of those who leave Islam compared to Judaism, Judaism and Hinduism. Most of the people who leave Islam no longer believe any religion or recognize themselves as Christians. In countries like America, Kenya, Ghana, Christians from Christians were seen most from Islam

Reality of conversion: What do figures say compared to media?
Conversion in the era of religious polarization is a controversial issue, but Pu Report clarifies that Islam in 13 countries of the world is less than 3%. In Muslim -dominated countries such as Indonesia, the rate of conversion or leaving in Islam is less than 1%. The contribution of conversion in the population growth of Islam is enough. This is the main reason for this that its population is not being seen and it is constantly increasing.

Status of Hinduism
In Pew Report, information about Hinduism has been received from only four countries. This is India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and America. Almost all people, raised as Hindus in India and Bangladesh, are still Hindus. In Sri Lanka, 9 out of 10 Hindus have maintained their identity. In America, only 82% of Hinduism raised in Hinduism consider themselves Hindus when they are adults. 11% of Hindus in America are now atheists, agnostists or unrelated to religion. Many former Hindus in Sri Lanka now convert to Christianity. According to the survey conducted in India and Bangladesh, religious stability is the highest here. Here 99% of Hindus and Muslims remain on their congenital religion. It is a symbol of the strength, family values and religious social structure of religious culture.

At present, the population of Muslims all over the world is more than 200 crores. However, despite this, there are many countries where people are renounced the religion of Islam. According to Pew Research, the rate of release and adoption of Islam varies depending on countries. In some countries, the rate of maintaining the religion of Islam is more than 90 percent, while in some places people are adopting other religions except Islam.

Indonesia is the most Muslim population country in the world, where 93 percent of adults are recognized as Muslims. According to Pew Research, people who grew up as Muslims in Indonesia remain Muslim even when they are adults. Because of this, the number of people leaving Islam here is less than 1%. However, the number of people adopting Islam is also negligible, because almost all Muslims are congenital Muslims. The rates of leaving and adopting Islam in Indonesia are very low, which is one of the most stable Muslim countries in the world.

The rates of adopting and leaving Islam in America
The state of Islam in America is different from other countries. According to Pew Research, 74 percent of American Muslims are the same who grew up as Muslims. 13 percent of Muslims no longer connect with any religion. 6 percent of Muslims grew up and have now become Christians. 20 percent of American Muslims are those who later adopted Islam. Most of the people who adopted Islam were the first Christians, whose number was 13 percent. The number of people adopting Islam in America is more than those who leave Islam, due to which the total population of Islam is increasing here.

Trend to adopt Islam in Kenya and Ghana
In Kenya, 9 percent of the people who grew up as Christians adopted Islam. Even in Ghana, 6 percent of the people who had earlier adopted Christianity have now become Muslims. Because of this, the rate of adoption of Islam in African countries is relatively high, especially among Christians.

Muslim retention rate: global comparison
The rate of Muslim retention (maintaining religion) worldwide is higher than other religions. According to the survey of Pew Research.
Country Muslim retention rate

Where is the highest rate of adopting Islam?
According to Pew Research, America is the country where the rate of adoption of Islam is the highest. 20 percent of American Muslims are those who adopted Islam from other religion. 13 percent of these were Christians. The tendency of Islam conversion in America is higher than other countries.

Pew Research Report on Indian Woman Covering Head: Publicly covering heads is a common practice for women in India, which is affected by religious and cultural beliefs. According to the 2019-2020 Pu Research Center survey, about 61 percent of women in India follow the tradition of covering their heads outside their homes.

The form of this practice varies according to different religious groups, regions and social backgrounds. For example, Muslim women have the highest head -looking rate (89 per cent), while this practice is quite common among Hindu (59 per cent) and Sikh (86 per cent) women.

Tendency
Religious identity in India deeply affects the tradition of covering the head. 89 percent of Muslim women cover their heads in public places. It is associated with the tradition of wearing hijab, burqa or dupatta among those who believe in Islam. Muslim women adopt this practice in every region of the country. On the other hand, 59 percent of Hindu women publicly cover their heads. This practice is particularly more prevalent in North India. Traditionally, Hindu women covers their heads with a sari pallu or dupatta.

North vs south state
In India, the practice of covering heads in women is also seen separately on regional basis. About 90 percent of women in states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan publicly cover their heads. This practice is almost equally prevalent among Muslims (85 percent) and Hindu (82 percent) women in North India. On the other hand, the practice of covering heads in the states of South is less. Only 16 percent of women in Tamil Nadu cover their heads. This percentage is low in Kerala (17 per cent), Andhra Pradesh (26 per cent) and Telangana (29 per cent).

Big difference between Muslim and Hindu women in south states
There is a big difference between Muslim and Hindu women living in the states in the south, where 83 percent of Muslim women cover their heads. At the same time, only 22 percent of Hindu women follow this practice. 44 percent of women in Karnataka cover their heads. Here 71 percent Muslim and 42 percent Hindu women follow this tradition.

India Religious Population Growth: Many religions live in India. The population here is also crossing 100 crores. By the year 2020, India’s total population was about 1.4 billion and its religious structure has been gradually changing. By this time, approximately 79 per cent of Indians are Hindus, while 15 per cent are Muslims and 2 per cent Christians. If these figures are compared with the 2011 census, the percentage of Hindus decreased and the Muslims have increased slightly.

According to the report of Pew Research, by 2050 the Hindu population will be 77 percent, while the Muslim population will reach 18 percent. There will be not much change in Christian population and it will remain at 2 percent. Other religious groups, such as Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains, may decrease due to their fertility rate being lower than the national average.

Population increase since partition
At the time of the 1951 census, India’s population was about 361 million. It exceeded 1.2 billion by 2011. This growth rate is more than three times since division. However, today India has become the most populous country in the world after 78 years of independence, which has left China behind.

Counting of Christian population
The counting of Christian population in India is not considered correct because some people of Scheduled Castes (Dalits), who consider themselves to be Christians, are recognized as Hindus for government benefits. In the 2015 National Family Health Survey, 21 per cent of Christians said that they belong to the Scheduled Castes, who refrain from calling themselves Christians in the census.

Decline in the growth rate of religious minorities
Between 1951 and 1961, the Muslim population increased by 32.7 per cent, while India’s total growth rate was 21.6 per cent. However, from 2001 to 2011, this difference decreased by 7 percent points. During this period, the population of Muslims increased by 24.7 percent, while the total Indian population was 17.7 percent. Similarly, the population of Christians increased by 15.7 per cent, which is much slower than the previous decades.

Full statistics of religious population
Although the rise rate of religious groups is decreasing, still all groups are showing millions in full numbers. For example, from 2001 to 2011, the number of Hindus increased by 138 million, while the number of Muslims increased by 34 million. Meanwhile, India’s total population increased by about 200 million people.

2021 census and pew research estimate
The 2021 census was postponed due to the Kornavirus epidemic, and its results may take some time to become public. However, the 2015 Pu Research Center had estimated the population of religious groups by 2050. According to him, there were about 1.4 billion people in India in 2020 and this number is continuously increasing.

Global Muslim Population: According to a study by Pew Research Center, Islam will become the largest religion in the world by 2070. The fertility rate and the young population are the main reasons behind the rapidly growing Muslim population of Islam. Currently, Islam is the second largest religion in the world, but by 2070 it will overtake Christianity.

The report of the Pew Research Center has more than 3 children in Muslim women according to the future of world religions, which exceeds the average fertility rate of the world. Along with this, one third of the Muslim population is under 15 years of age. The chief researcher of the report Conrad Hacket said that in the coming years a large number of Muslim youth will reach the reproductive age, which will increase the population of Islam faster than any other religion.

Future of Christianity and Hinduism
Christianity is also growing rapidly, especially in Africa. Where 40 percent of African Christians will be followers of African Christianity by 2050 due to high birth rate. However, by 2070, the rate of growth of Islam will be so high that it will prevent Christianity from becoming the world’s largest religion. Talking about Hinduism, its population will also continue to increase, especially in India. But by 2050, the Muslim population in India will be more than Indonesia. However, the number of Hindus in India will still be more than Muslims.

Status of major religions in 2070
According to the report, the Muslim population will expand rapidly and by 2070 it will become the largest religion in the world, leaving behind Christianity.
The number of Muslims is expected to increase by more than 70 percent.
Christianity will mainly increase due to fertility rate in Africa.
Hinduism will remain strong in India, but despite the increase in Muslim population, the number of Hindus will be more.
Buddhism will remain stable, while folk religion and tribal religion will also see some growth.

Muslim population growth in America and Europe
In the US and Europe too, the Muslim population will see a rapid growth. By 2050, the number of Muslims in Europe will be 10.2 percent, which was 5.9 percent in 2010. The Muslim population in the US will increase from 1 percent to 2.1 percent. The number of Muslim population in America will exceed the Jews.
