The American think-tank Pew Research Center conducted a major international survey between January 8 to April 26, 2025. In this, people of 24 countries of the world were asked about India’s opinion. In the survey, 47% of the people have positive opinions towards India, negative opinion of 38% people, while 13% people did not give any opinion. In this way, India’s image is still in a positive direction globally. An interesting thing also came to light in this survey. Men kept a positive attitude towards India compared to women in half of 24 countries.
65 percent of Japan, 54 per cent of Netherlands, 63 per cent of Germany, 33 per cent of Argentina, 40 per cent of Poland and 49 per cent of Hungary have positive thinking towards India, while women in these countries are less positive about India’s opinion than men.

Impact of global events on India’s image
The survey took place when Pakistan carried out a terrorist attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Also, US President Donald Trump had announced to increase tariffs on imported goods from India. These incidents had a profound impact on India’s image. While some countries saw India as a strong power and stable democracy, some countries adopted a negative attitude due to political disputes and regional conflicts.

India’s global image
India’s image is constantly developing. Its economic progress, technical achievements and increasing participation in international forums establishes India as a big global player. In terms of positive signals, India’s strong economy, IT sector, space mission and youth population keep the country in a strong position in the world. India has always stood for its right. Out of 24 countries, 47% of people have positive opinions about India, while 38% of the people’s thinking appeared negative. Other 13% of the people have no opinion. The survey has been conducted till 26 April after the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists in Kashmir in April. In this list, 49 percent of the US people have positive attitude towards India, while the people of Canada and UK are 47 and 60 percent positively.

What else happened in research

About half of the surveyed, there is more positive attitude towards India. Kenya, United Kingdom and Israel’s opinion is quite favorable towards India, where 6 or more people say that they have positive opinions towards India. In Germany, Japan, Indonesia and Nigeria, majority people also say that they have a positive attitude towards India. Turkas and more than half of Australia people say that they have a negative attitude towards India.

Argentina and Brazil also have more negative thinking. In some countries including America and South Korea, opinion about India is almost equal. Those participating in the survey in South Africa have generally expressed more critical views about India, while 46% of the people said that their views are positive.

Pew research survey: In a global survey conducted by Pew Research Center, it has once again become clear that conversion has become a global issue. According to the Pew Research Survey, the rate of conversion between Hindus and Muslims is very low in countries like India and Bangladesh. About 99% of Hindus in India are stable on their congenital religion, while some exceptions have been seen in countries like America, Sri Lanka.

Most Hindus left their religion in America
While the rate of conversion in India is negligible, 18% of the migrant Hindus in countries like America have left their congenital religion. Most of these people have now become atheists or have adopted Christianity. This figure is 11% in Sri Lanka. Some Hindu communities there have also turned to Christianity. However, these figures are still less than Christian and Buddhist communities.

Most conversion in Christian and Buddhism
The survey also revealed that the Christian community is the most converted, especially in Western countries. In Spain, 36 percent of Christians have left their religion in the youth. This figure is 22 percent in America. 28 per cent in Britain and France, 29 in Canada and about 30 per cent of people in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden. Most of these now consider themselves “atheists” or “religiously undesirable”. In contrast, new people in these countries joining Christianity are very low, due to which the population of Christianity is being seen.

Buddhism is not far behind
Buddhism, often considered a symbol of peace and enlightenment, is seeing a rapid decline in countries such as South Korea and Japan. About 50% of people in South Korea break their ties with their religion after Adulthood. There is a decrease in both religious faith and activism in Japan. This decline indicates the weakening of Buddhism in the new generation of spirituality.

India and Bangladesh: Center of religious stability
According to the survey conducted in India and Bangladesh, religious stability is the highest here. Here 99% of Hindus and Muslims remain on their congenital religion. It is a symbol of the strength, family values ​​and religious social structure of religious culture. It was also found in the survey that those who leave their religion are generally young, educated and the number of men in them is more than women.
