In IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore will play its next match with Delhi Capitals on Monday. Before that, RCB has suffered a setback because opening batsman Phil Salt is not completely fit. Bengaluru team’s batting coach Dinesh Karthik has confirmed that Salt will not be able to play in the match against Delhi due to not being completely healthy. Salt had not even played in the match against Gujarat Titans before.

The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals will be played on 27 April at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Let us remind you that in the match against Gujarat Titans, in the absence of Phil Salt, Jacob Batchelor had opened with Virat Kohli. Bethel could score only 14 runs in that match. Despite this, the pair of Virat and Bethel can be seen opening against Delhi also.

Big blow for RCB

The absence of Phil Salt is a big blow for RCB, because he has scored 202 runs after playing 6 matches in the IPL 2026 tournament. This season he has also scored 2 half-century innings with his bat. The exclusion of the in-form batsman is not good news for the Bengaluru team. Another difficulty will be that the Bengaluru team now has to play all the matches away from home.

This was the season when the teams of Bengaluru and Delhi came face to face. In that match, Phil Salt played a valuable inning of 63 runs in 38 balls.
