Typhoon Kalmaegi has caused massive devastation in central Philippines. According to officials, at least 52 people have died so far, while 13 people are missing. Most of the deaths occurred due to heavy rains and floods. In many areas, people’s houses were washed away, vehicles were submerged in water and dozens of families reached the rooftops to save their lives.

The area most affected by the storm is the central Philippines, which was trying to recover from a deadly earthquake some time ago. According to the local administration, relief and rescue operations are going on a war footing, but due to continuous rains it is becoming difficult to reach many places.

Helicopter accident in relief mission, 6 soldiers died
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a helicopter of the Philippines Air Force crashed on Tuesday (4 November 2025). The accident occurred in Agusan del Sur province, in which 6 people died. This helicopter was on a mission to deliver humanitarian aid and relief material to the storm-affected areas. The army said that the reasons for the accident are being investigated.

Heavy damage in Palawan due to strong winds
According to the Meteorological Department, Typhoon Kalmegi passed through Linapacan area of ​​Palawan Province in the early hours of Wednesday (November 5, 2025). During this period, the wind speed was 120 kilometers per hour, while strong gusts reached 150 kilometers per hour. The roofs of hundreds of houses were blown away by the storm and the power supply came to a standstill. Meteorologists said that this storm is now moving towards the South China Sea.

Relief and rescue continues
Government and army teams are carrying out rescue operations in the affected areas. The help of naval ships and helicopters is being taken to deliver food, water and medicines. The local administration has warned that there is a danger of landslides in many areas in the next 24 hours.
