US President Donald Trump recently claimed that he talked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about buying Russian oil. Trump further said that PM Modi assured him that India will stop buying Russian oil. Now the Ministry of External Affairs has denied this claim.

The Indian Foreign Ministry made it clear on Thursday that there was no telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump yesterday (Wednesday). External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly briefing, ‘I have no knowledge of any conversation or phone call between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump yesterday.’

Trump had claimed to have talked to PM Modi
This statement has come after the recent remarks of US President Trump. Trump had said that Prime Minister Modi assured him that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. Trump described it as ‘a big step’, which will help in increasing global pressure on Moscow in view of the Ukraine crisis.

Trump said- ‘Modi is my friend’
When Trump was asked late on Wednesday night whether he considered India a reliable partner, he said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ He (PM Modi) is my friend. We have a very good relationship. I did not like that India was buying oil from Russia. He assured me today that now India will not buy oil from Russia. This is a big step. Now we will have to do the same with China.

MEA reiterated India’s policy
In response to these comments, MEA had already clarified that India’s energy policy is made keeping in mind only the national interest and the safety of Indian consumers. The ministry said that India is a large importer of oil and gas and its priority has always been to ensure stable prices and secure supply, for which imports are done from diverse sources.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he made a “very good” phone call with Brazilian President Luiz Eneasio Lula Da Silva. Trump described this conversation as important and described it as a positive step towards improving relations between the two countries.

Meeting in the United Nations

Trump said that he had also met Lula in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Trump recalled, “I was going to give a speech and I did not have a teleprompter. At the same time I met President Lula. I found him a very good person. We talked about two minutes, and then I went to give a speech. The leaders of every country were present there.” The meeting took place two weeks ago after a brief but friendly conversation in New York.

First serious conversation after tariff

The specialty of this call is that it was his first serious and detailed conversation after the US imposed 50% tariff on Brazilian items in this summer. It is believed that the White House is trying to reduce stress and improve bilateral relations.

Trump said this big thing

Trump told in his Truth Social Post that this call was very good and it was discussed on economy, business and other subjects. He said: “We will interact further and soon we will meet in both Brazil and America. I enjoyed this call. Our countries will do very well together.”

The two leaders interacted through a video conference for 30 minutes. During this, he discussed the personal meeting and also shared the phone numbers. Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Haddad described this call as “positive”.

Impact on America-Brazilian relations

According to analysts, this initiative is an important step towards reducing business and economic stress between the two countries. This is the first serious contact between Trump and Lula, which can promote American-Brazil business cooperation and political dialogue in the future.

Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky has said that he is ready to “creative cooperation” to end the ongoing war with Russia. He made this statement after a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. According to an Exios report, Trump told Jailonsky that Russian President Vladimir Putin prioritize “comprehensive peace agreement” rather than a ceasefire.

  Washington tour announcement
Jailonsky confirmed in a brief statement that he would go to Washington on Monday at the invitation of Donald Trump. This meeting is special because this will be the second meeting after an unfortunate encounter between the two leaders in the Oval office in February this year.

  Negotiations after Alaska Summit
There was no compromise on the Ukraine ceasefire at the recent Alaska summit. After this, while returning to Washington, Donald Trump interacted with Jailonsky and other European leaders. His conversation with the Ukrainian President lasted more than an hour. Jailonsky said that his conversation with President Trump was “long and meaningful”. He also stated that he has received “positive signs” on the security guarantee received from the US.

Trump put responsibility on Jailonsky
In an interview to Fox News Channel before leaving Alaska, President Donald Trump said that he and Putin have agreed to several points after the meeting, but he said that “completing it is really dependent on the President’s Jailnsky. Although he also believed that European countries will also have a role in this process. There has been no response from European leaders.

NATO leaders talk on phone
While returning to Washington, President Donald Trump did not talk to the media. After landing his flight, White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewitt said that Trump discussed the phone with NATO leaders after a long conversation with Jailonsky.
