Galwan Valley Clash: An emotional scene was witnessed in China ahead of Mother’s Day, which brought back memories of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The mothers of Chinese soldiers Chen Xiangrong, Xiao Siyuan and Wang Zhuran, who were killed in the Galwan clash, reached the Military Museum in Beijing. There he lovingly touched the statues of his sons and wrote down his feelings remembering them. These pictures and videos are now becoming increasingly viral on Chinese social media.

There was a bloody clash in Galvan Valley in 2020

There was a violent clash between the soldiers of India and China in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh on the night of 15 and 16 June 2020. This incident is considered to be one of the biggest incidents increasing tension between the two countries. It was told from the Indian side that 20 soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in this clash. Whereas China had initially denied the death of any of its soldiers.

Death of Chinese soldiers still remains a mystery

After the incident, many international reports claimed the death of Chinese soldiers. In different reports, this number ranged from four to 40, but China did not officially share any information for a long time. According to a Tribune report, China admitted for the first time in February 2021 that four of its soldiers were killed in the Galwan clash. However, later some reports also claimed that 40 Chinese soldiers were killed. An Australian newspaper had claimed that 38 soldiers of China’s People’s Liberation Army were killed in the Galwan clash. Despite this, till date no clear data has come out from China.

Silence on deaths is China’s old strategy

Experts believe that it has been China’s old policy to maintain silence regarding the deaths of its soldiers. China had released similarly limited data during the 1962 India-China war and the 1967 Nathu La conflict in Sikkim. About 400 PLA ​​soldiers were said to have been killed in Nathu La, but China acknowledged only a few deaths. Even in the Galvan case, China’s attitude is being linked to the same strategy.

Military activities increased on the border after Galwan conflict

The Galwan clash of 15 June 2020 was the first deadly encounter between the armies of India and China on the LAC in the last five decades. After this incident, there was a lot of tension in the relations between the two countries. After the Galwan conflict, India has significantly strengthened its military infrastructure, surveillance system and combat capability along the approximately 3500 km long Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. Continuous talks are going on between the two countries at military and diplomatic level, but the tension on the border is still not completely over.
