Drone Engines: Drones are playing a big role in modern wars. Many big countries have established their dominance in drone manufacturing. With this, now everyone’s eyes are on India which is rapidly moving towards making its own indigenous drone engines. Let us know which countries currently make drone engines and what is India’s position in this matter.

Big countries manufacturing drone engines

America

The United States is far ahead in terms of drone technology. It has developed new technology drones like MQ-9 Reaper and RQ-4 Global Hawk. Both of them run on very powerful engines. US defense companies such as General Atomics and Pratt & Whitney have established large and global standards for UAV propulsion systems. After this step, America has become a big leader in this field.

China

Along with this, if we talk about China, then this country has become the largest producer and exporter of both commercial and military products. Companies like DJI continue to dominate the global consumer drone market, and military drones like the Wing Loong and CH series demonstrate the country’s technological strength. China also manufactures parts for drone engines and exports them all over the world.

israel

The name of Israel is also included in this list, which was one of the first countries to develop modern UAVs. Israel Aerospace Industries has manufactured drones like Heron and Searcher and these drones have been used by the Indian Defense Forces.

Türkiye

In the last few years, Türkiye has emerged as a big player because of its Bayraktar and Anka drones. These drones are controlled by indigenous engines designed for durability and precise aiming.

iran

Iran says that it has made its own UAV engines using indigenous technology. Iran has achieved great success in developing drones like Shahed 136.

Is India self-reliant in making drone engines?

India is constantly trying to reduce its dependence on foreign drone parts. The government has started the Production Link Incentive Scheme to be self-reliant. Its aim is to transform India into a global drone hub by 2030. At the same time, organizations like Defense Research and Development Organization and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited are working hard in making long-range drones running on indigenous engines.

Along with this, India is also developing Kamikaze drone with an effective strike range of 1000 km. These self-destructing UAVs are designed for precise attacks and will be powered by indigenous engines.

Pli scheme for white goods: The government is going to reopen the application window for PL Scheme (PLIWG) for White Goods (AC and LED lights). The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) said on Thursday that this new window will be open from September 15 to October 14, 2025.

The Commerce and Industry Ministry said that the deadline of the application is being reopened in view of the desire of industries under the scheme. In view of the plan for more investment of companies under the scheme, the government again gave a chance. This is the fourth round of applications under this scheme, which reflects increasing domestic demand and better confidence. It was started in April 2021.

What is different rule?

There has been no change in terms and conditions for the scheme. Applications for this can only be submitted through the online portal (https://pliwg.dpiit.gov.in/). However, the matter of keeping in mind is that no application will be accepted after the deadline.

Both new applicants and current beneficiaries will be able to apply for this. Applicants or companies already existing will be able to increase their investment in different segments. New applicants are also eligible to join the scheme. However, in this era, the approved applicants will be eligible for PLI benefits till FY 29 (the remaining period of the scheme). Based on the investment category, new applicants will get incentive for a maximum of two years, while the current beneficiaries changing the category will get only one year incentive.

Rahul Gandhi Attacks on PM Modi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative. He said that this scheme, launched with big promises in 2014, neither flooded the factories in the country nor got employment to the youth. On the contrary, the manufacturing capacity of the country has come down to just 14% and unemployment among the youth is at a record level.

“Make in India has failed”: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi shared a video on the social media platform X (East Twitter) and wrote, “Make in India ‘promised the factory boom. So why is the manufacturing records at a low level? Why the unemployment of the youth is increasing? And why has imports doubled from China? The art of giving slogans to Modi ji has come, but he is felt in the solution.”

Youth dreams incomplete, China earning profit
Rahul Gandhi, while referring to the meeting with two young Shivam and Saif at Nehru Place in New Delhi, said that both of them are skilled, talented and hardworking youth, but they are not getting the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Rahul Gandhi said, “We only assemble, ask for goods from outside, but do not make real construction. China is earning profit and our youth are missing behind.”

He termed India’s current economic policy as unbalanced and opportunistic. Rahul said that since 2014, the contribution of manufacturing sector has fallen to 14%, which is very worrying. He also alleged that imports from China have doubled in the past years, which has directly affected the small industries of the country.

PLI scheme is also being closed quietly- Rahul Gandhi
Expressing deep concern over the government’s industry policy, Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Modi has no new idea now. He also claimed that the PLI scheme which was discussed a lot about the scheme, is now being ended silently. Modi ji has now given up hope of increasing Indian industries.

“If India will not make it, it will only buy”
Rahul Gandhi warned that if India does not increase its construction capacity, then we will only become a market for other countries. He said that India now needs a fundamental change with honest reforms and financial support. Rahul Gandhi said, “We do not just have to be a market, but to become a producer. If we do not build here, we will always buy from those who do. The needles of the clock are going on fast.”

Pli scheme: 14,020 crore has been released under the PLI Scheme launched by the Government of India to promote the country’s production and manufacturing sector. These include 10 major sectors in many countries like Electronics, Manufacturing, IT Hardware, Pharmaceuticals, Telecom, Food Processing, Automobiles.

PLI scheme has a big impact on sectors

The scheme was launched in the year 2021 to promote the country’s manufacturing capacity and export, in which 14 sectors were covered. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement on Saturday, the PLI scheme has a significant impact in different sectors of the country.

Under this, the manufacture of indigenous goods was encouraged, which leads to more production, more and more people get employment and exports to export. This scheme has attracted investment from the country as well as abroad. Explain that under this scheme, the government is given incentive to those companies, which show well in the manufacture and export of indigenous goods.

Investment of so many crores

It was reported that 764 applications have been approved for 14 sectors under the PLI scheme, including 176 MSME in PLI beneficiaries of sectors like bulk drugs, medical devices, pharma, telecom, white goods, food processing, textiles and drones. As of November 2024, an investment of about Rs 1.61 lakh crore has been made. Due to this, about 14 lakh crore rupees (about 162.8 billion dollars) have been sold. While a target of Rs 15.52 lakh crore was set by 2024-25.

People got employment through scheme

The ministry also informed that due to this scheme, more than 11.5 lakh people have got direct or indirect employment. Under the PLI scheme, companies invested around Rs 20,000 crore in special steel, while an investment target of Rs 27,106 crore was set. This also provided direct employment to 9,000 people.
