PM Modi on Sanju Samson: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Team India’s star cricketer Sanju Samson. Samson was the highest run-scorer for Team India in the T20 World Cup 2026, where he scored 321 runs including three half-centuries. While talking to Bharatiya Janata Party workers before the assembly elections in Kerala, PM Modi praised Sanju Samson’s World Cup performance.

Addressing BJP workers in Kerala, PM Modi said that they all should show the same patience and confidence as Sanju Samson showed in the knockout matches of T20 World Cup 2026.

Praise for Sanju Samson

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The cricket season is going on right now, and it is time for all the people of Kerala to learn something. We saw Sanju Samson in the T20 World Cup, as soon as the tournament got tough, the knockout stage came, Samson’s performance was at its peak. From the beginning till the end, his focus, confidence and intensity kept increasing. This is the sign of a true player. When the team needed him, he gave his best.”

Three consecutive half-centuries, scored 321 runs

Sanju Samson was not getting a chance in the playing eleven continuously in the T20 World Cup. After the failure of the top order, there was a change in the opening order, where Sanju Samson played three consecutive half-centuries at important junctures. He scored 321 runs in the entire tournament and was also the third highest run scorer in the entire tournament. Samson has made the record of being the Indian player who has scored the most runs in a single T20 World Cup tournament. Earlier this record was in the name of Virat Kohli, who had scored 319 runs in the 2014 World Cup.
