Vande Mataram Debate: Discussion regarding Vande Mataram has started in Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the discussion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the Lok Sabha that ‘Countless of our freedom fighters embraced the gallows while raising the slogan of Vande Mataram.’ He further said that ‘This happened in different jails but everyone’s mantra was the same, Vande Mataram.’ Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the newspapers which were started during the freedom struggle and their name was Vande Mataram. Let us know who started these newspapers during the freedom struggle about which PM Modi talked in Parliament.

Vande Mataram newspaper started in the freedom movement

The name Vande Mataram was so powerful and inspiring that it appeared in slogans as well as in the press. The press was one of the strongest weapons against British rule at that time. Many nationalist leaders started newspapers with the same name to raise public awareness and challenge colonial policies.

Bipin Chandra Pal started the first Bande Mataram newspaper

In August 1906, nationalist leader Bipin Chandrapal started an English weekly newspaper named ‘Bande Mataram’ from Kolkata. His simple objective was to arouse national pride, promote Swadeshi and also to convey the political aspirations of Indians to the English-speaking section of the society. Bipin Chandra Pal’s publications soon became an intellectual weapon.

Maharshi Aurobindo Ghosh took over the post of editor

Soon after the launch of the newspaper, Sri Aurobindo Ghosh took over the post of editor of Bande Mataram. He transformed this newspaper from a weekly to a daily and made this newspaper the most influential voice of the extremist group within the Congress. Aurobindo’s editorials were passionate and unapologetically nationalist. The British government considered Akbar so dangerous that it was directly cited as a reason behind strict laws like the Press Act of 1910. This act was created to suppress revolutionary ideas.

Bhikaji Cama started Vande Mataram newspaper from Paris

Madam Bhikaji Cama started publishing a nationalist newspaper named Vande Mataram from Paris in 1909. The objective of this newspaper was to promote nationalism and anti-British sentiments in India. For this, Madam Bhikaji Cama established the Paris Indian Society in Paris and started publishing this newspaper through it. This newspaper was started in response to the British ban.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the SCO summit in Tianjin, China, 2025. He started his address with a warning on the threat of terrorism. He said that terrorism is the biggest barrier in the path of peace and stability and the whole world will have to stand together against it. He also clarified that now not only traditional terrorism, but cyber terrorism and online fundamentalism have also become a big challenge for international security. He emphasized cooperation, describing SCO as S-Security, C-Connectivity and O-Opportunity.

What did PM Modi say on Pahalgam terror attack?

PM Modi also gave a very tough message about terrorism. He said that India has been facing the brunt of terrorism for decades. He said, “How many mothers have lost their sons and how many children have become orphans. Recently in Pahalgam we saw the most disgusting form of terror.” He thanked the friendly countries supporting India in this hour of grief and said that this attack was a challenge for every country and individual who believes in humanity, not only on the soul of India.

PM Modi targeted Pakistan

Taking a dig at Pakistan, PM Modi raised the question. He said, “Can we accept open support of terrorism by some countries? We have to say clearly and in the same tone that any kind of double standard will not be acceptable on terrorism.” The Prime Minister called upon the world to resist terrorism in every color and form, because it is our shared obligation towards humanity.

PM Modi said this big thing

According to the news agency IANS, PM Modi said in the SCO meeting, “I am happy to attend the SCO summit. I want to thank President Xi Jinping for our grand reception. Today is Uzbekistan’s Independence Day. I also congratulate him.” He said, “The first column is security. Security, peace and stability are the basis of progress and development of any country. But, big threats like terrorism and separatism obstruct these goals. Terrorism is not only a threat to the safety of different countries, but it is a serious challenge for the whole of humanity.”

Earlier, PM Modi shared the photo related to the photo session on the social media platform X. He wrote, “At the SCO Summit in Tianjin.” Let us know that China is hosting the SCO summit this year. The group consists of eight member countries and its focus focuses on political, economic and security cooperation in the Eurasian region. This is the first time when Prime Minister Modi has reached China after seven years, which is particularly important among complex bilateral relations after the 2020 border dispute between India and China.

BRICS Nations Condemned Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: The BRICS summit 2025 witnessed a major diplomatic victory for India when the joint manifesto (Joint Declaration) was strongly condemned by the terror attack on 22 April in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent people were killed and many were injured in this attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the stage to support Pakistan to support terrorism and appealed to global leaders for solidarity against terror.

Talk of zero tolerance against terrorism
The BRICS manifesto stated that terrorism is not acceptable in any form. Regardless of its purpose, it should not be associated with any religion, race, nationality or civilization. All terrorist organizations and their supporters should be punished.

Strict condemnation of Pahalgam attack
The BRICS called the Pahalgam attack as ‘extremely condemnable’ and ‘crime’. This is the first time that a terrorist attack in India was so clearly condemned on a platform like BRICS. The manifesto appealed to all countries to take strict steps against terrorism without any double standards.

PM Modi described Pakistan as a supporter of terror
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address that India is a victim of terrorism, while Pakistan is a supporter of terrorism. He also said that the victims and supporters of terrorism cannot be weighed on the same scales. PM Modi also took a dig at those keeping silence and said that silence on terror should not be accepted for political gains.

PM Modi further said, ‘In this hour of grief, I express my heartfelt gratitude to those friendly countries who expressed support and condolences. Condemning terrorism should be our ‘principle’ and not only ‘facility’. If we first see in which country the attack took place, against whom, then it will be a betrayal of humanity.

Emphasis on need to improve security council
BRICS leaders reiterated the demand for comprehensive reform in the United Nations Security Council to make it more democratic. Emphasized to make the voice of Global South more effective in particular.
