War of words intensifies regarding flood compensation

There is a PPP government in the Sindh province of Pakistan, while there is a PML-N government in Punjab. The war of words that started over flood compensation reached the issue of water rights on the Indus River. Punjab province CM Maryam Nawaz even said that she (PPP) should keep her advice to herself. Meanwhile, now PPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman warned coalition partner PML-N that if they do not get clear support, they will face difficulties in the Senate.

PPP leader threatened

“If you want to break the entire alliance, I have already said in the National Assembly, do not take our coming to power lightly and do not think that you can do anything and we will remain silent. If you do not need us, then it is your choice, but let me remind you that we are the single largest party in the Senate and without the clear support of the PPP, it will be very difficult for you,” Sherry Rehman, vice-president of the PPP, was reported by Pakistani newspaper Dawn. Asked about PPP sitting in the opposition, Rehman said the decision on the issue would be taken by the Central Executive Committee as it was not a small decision and the party did not want to destabilize the government. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was jailed, said on Saturday (May 24, 2025) that he would only talk to the big officials of military. Describing Shahbaz Sharif of Pakistan as a puppet government, he said that he has no basis.
