The wave of dissatisfaction in Pakistan Occupide Jammu and Kashmir (Pojk) has now spread to Islamabad. Police took alleged barbaric action at the National Press Club (NPC), which has revealed incidents of lathicharge and damage to media equipment. This action took place during the protests organized by the Kashmir Action Committee. The demonstration was being done against alleged atrocities and internet blackouts in Pojk.

On Thursday, Islamabad Police raided the NPC and forcibly entered the campus and attacked protesters and journalists. The police lathi -charged and destroyed many media equipment. This action has created resentment across the country. The protesters were voicing their rights in a peaceful manner, but the strict action of the police made the situation more sensitive.

Human rights organizations condemned

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) strongly condemned the attack. HRCP wrote on social media that raids on NPC and attack on journalists should be immediately brought under investigation and those responsible should be punished according to the law. The incident has created heavy resentment between human rights groups and media.

What did Zaid Gishkori, senior journalist of Pakistan say

Senior Pakistan journalist Zaid Gishkori reprimanded the officials and said that this action has raised serious questions. He asked how the house of journalists became unsafe for those who have no safe place to protest. At the same time, former Pakistan envoy in the United Nations Maliha Lodhi also described the raid as “condemnable” and demanded accountability of the responsibilities.

The incident is drawing international attention to the state of human rights in Pojk and the ongoing protest there. It is a clear indication that dissatisfaction in Pojk is not only limited to the local level, but it is also affecting the capital of Pakistan and the political and social environment there.

The administration continues to strictly after the violence during the ‘I Love Mohammed’ procession in Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. On the third day of the incident of attack, stone pelting and sabotage on government vehicles in the procession without permission, there was a campaign against bulldozer action and power theft.

District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria reached the spot on Tuesday and took stock of the proceedings and instructed to maintain peace and order.

What was the whole matter?

Let us know that on Sunday 21 September, a youth named Nadeem Akhtar organized a meeting with his 400-500 colleagues at Alli Khan Chowk in Bansfodan area of Mohalla Alli Khan in Kashipur. After the meeting ended, the mob suddenly took out a procession with banner-posters, raising slogans of ‘I Love Mohammad’. When the police, who came to stop the process of moving towards Valmiki Basti, instructed not to take out permission and disperse, but the mob disregarded the orders of the police.

The miscreants attacked with sticks, stones, damaged government vehicles and beat up policemen. Several policemen including Sub -Inspector Anil Joshi were injured in the incident. SSP Manikant Mishra immediately inspected the spot and deployed additional police force. A total of 7 miscreants including Chief Mastermind Nadeem Akhtar were arrested on the basis of CCTV footage and mobile video investigation. Peace was established by implementing Section 163 BNSS.

Bulldozer and electricity department action

The next day of the incident, from Monday 22 September, the Municipal Corporation started a campaign to remove encroachments by running a bulldozer, which continued for the third day. The electricity department intensified the process of installing smart meters and catching power theft. Investigation found that there were not only meters in many places, business activities were running on residential connections due to illegal connections. Large -scale encroachments on the drains were causing waterlogging problems, which is going on fast.

Dm Nitin Singh Bhadoria inspected on the spot

On Tuesday afternoon, DM Udham Singh Nagar Nitin Singh reached Kashipur with Bhadoria team and took stock of the ongoing action in Bansfodan area. Talking to the media, he said that administration and associate teams are active. Priority is a quick and transparent disposal of complaints. Joint teams of Municipal Corporation and UPCL are taking action.

The DM further stated that the streets have become narrow, while there should be enough space in the approved maps. The streets are being arranged by removing the encroachment, so that the citizens get convenience and a permanent order. Emphasis is being laid on cleaning of drains to eliminate waterlogging.
