Senior BJP leader Prem Kumar has become the speaker of the assembly. After being elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Assembly, he gave his first reaction by saying that I have long experience. Became MLA for the 9th time. He was the leader of opposition and a minister. The House will run according to the rules and regulations. Will run smoothly. The ruling party and the opposition will all be equal for me. Everyone will get a good opportunity to express their views.

He further said, “We also need everyone’s cooperation.” This is the beauty of democracy. As per the tradition of democracy, CM Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav took me to the Speaker’s chair and made me sit on the seat. I welcome both the leaders and thank them. Whatever responsibility I have been given, I will run the House in a better way by taking everyone along.

Prem Kumar also mentioned the Emergency of 1975

Prem Kumar said, “I joined the movement of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan in the year 1974. I was a member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Gradually the caravan increased. At that time, I got the company of many leaders including Jannayak Karpoori Thakur ji, Ramanand Tiwari ji. Later the movement continued under the leadership of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan. Emergency was imposed in 1975. We went to jail during emergency. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Chandrashekhar ji, Chaudhary Charan Singh and many leaders of Bihar went to jail.

‘I will work to live up to the trust of NDA leaders’

He further said, “When he came back from jail, Janata Party government was formed in 1977 and then his political journey started.” After that he joined BJP in 1980. Worked in BJP organization from 1980 to 1990. Got the opportunity to become MLA continuously since 1990. In 2015, I was also the Leader of Opposition. Got a chance to be in the cabinet continuously since 2005. This time the NDA leaders have given a big responsibility as the Speaker of Bihar Assembly. I will definitely work to live up to his trust.

After Bihar elections (2025), NDA government has been formed again in the state. The Home Department, which was with Nitish Kumar in the new government, has now gone to BJP. Samrat Chaudhary is handling its responsibility. On Tuesday (December 02, 2025), the post of Speaker also went to BJP’s account. Prem Kumar was elected president unopposed. Now RJD and IIP, a party included in the grand alliance, have made a big claim.

‘BJP has moved ahead towards forming its own government’

RJD Principal General Secretary and MLA Ranvijay Sahu, while talking to ABP News, claimed that BJP will remove Nitish Kumar from the post of CM. Will make her Chief Minister in Bihar. It has moved forward in the direction of forming its own government. He said that BJP also took the Home Department from JDU. Two deputy CMs are also from BJP. BJP is elder brother. He said that BJP has played in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and many states. The same kind of game will happen here (Bihar).

IP Gupta also made a similar claim

On the other hand, IIP President and MLA IP Gupta, who is part of the Grand Alliance, has also made a claim regarding this. IP Gupta said, “BJP will remove Nitish from the CM’s chair. It will make its own Chief Minister in Bihar. After the Home Department and two Deputy CMs, the Speaker also became BJP’s. BJP will form its own government.”

At the same time, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra made a big claim like other leaders of the Grand Alliance. Brother Virendra said, “The way the Home Department… after that the post of Speaker of the Assembly has gone into the hands of BJP… wait, very soon what has happened in Maharashtra is going to happen here too.”

BJP said- Opposition is spreading confusion

Even though the leaders of the Grand Alliance are making such a claim, the BJP is sure that nothing like this is going to happen. On this entire matter, BJP MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia said that Nitish Kumar will remain the Chief Minister. The Home Department, the post of two Deputy CMs, the post of Speaker, all have been done with mutual consent. The opposition is spreading confusion.

BJP’s position strengthened in Bihar

After Prem Kumar becoming the speaker, BJP has now reached a very strong position in Bihar. Home department is with BJP, so now the post of Speaker is also going to go to BJP. Not only this, there are two Deputy CMs from BJP in Bihar. One is Samrat Chaudhary and the other is Vijay Kumar Sinha. BJP has got the maximum number of seats in this election also. BJP has got 89 seats while JDU has got 85 seats.

Let us tell you that while the election for the post of Speaker will be held tomorrow i.e. on 2nd December, the Governor’s address will be held on 3rd December. The winter session is to continue till December 5. On December 4, the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address will be discussed and the government will reply. Floor test of the government is also possible. Also, the Appropriation Bill will be presented on December 5.
