President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Raj Kumar Goyal as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) on Monday (15 December 2025). A three-member committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recommended Goyal’s name for this post.

Goyal has held important positions

Raj Kumar Goel is a 1990 batch (retired) IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre. He retired from the post of Secretary in the Justice Department under the Ministry of Law and Justice on August 31. He also served as Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He held important positions in the Center and the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

President Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Goyal in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. The post of Chief Information Commissioner fell vacant on September 13 after the completion of the tenure of Hiralal Samaria.

Committee headed by PM recommended

The committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recommended the names of eight Information Commissioners in the Central Information Commission during the meeting held on Wednesday (10 December 2025). According to information activists, when the newly elected Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners assume charge, it will be after a gap of more than nine years that the Commission will function at full capacity.

The Commission is headed by the Chief Information Commissioner and it can have a maximum of 10 Information Commissioners. Presently Anandi Ramalingam and Vinod Kumar Tiwari are working as Information Commissioners.

Have served in these big positions

Officials said that former Railway Board chief Jaya Verma Sinha, former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Swagat Das, who held important positions in the Intelligence Bureau, Home Ministry and Cabinet Secretariat, then Central Secretariat Service (CSS) officer Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, former IAS officer Surendra Singh Meena and former Indian Forest Service officer Khushwant Singh Sethi have been recommended for appointment as Information Commissioner.

Senior journalists P R Ramesh and Ashutosh Chaturvedi and Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) member (legal) Sudha Rani Relangi have also been selected by the committee for appointment as information commissioners, he said. The names of the Chief Information Commissioner and eight Information Commissioners were approved in the meeting of the committee led by PM Modi. The committee included Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Twenty people died tragically in a fire in an AC bus in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on Tuesday. To know the condition of the injured, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reached Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur late in the night to know the condition of the injured and instructed the doctors for better treatment. He said that all possible help will be provided to the injured and the families of the victims. CM Bhajanlal himself posted photos and messages of the hospital on his social media handle.

The accident took place on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway. In the initial investigation, the cause of the fire is said to be short circuit, while 50 people were traveling in the bus. The fire had become so severe that the people trapped in the bus could not be rescued.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reached Mahatma Gandhi Hospital late at night to inquire about the condition of the injured, here he inquired about the condition of the injured. The bus used to leave from Jaisalmer at 3 o’clock

The AC bus accident happened near village Thaiyat of Jaisalmer. The bus leaves Jaisalmer daily at 3 o’clock, but it had covered only twenty kilometers when suddenly it burst into flames. The local villagers immediately informed the police and fire brigade, with the help of the villagers many people were saved alive, but those who were engulfed in the flames could not come out.

PM modi meets president murmu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday (May 7, 2025), a few hours after the missile attack on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK). In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the terrorist bases in Pakistan under the ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian Armed Forces on Tuesday night include Jaish-e-Mohammed’s stronghold Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base Murid. Some important things related to Operation Sindoor

• The campaign started on Wednesday morning was jointly operated by the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. Between 1.05 pm and 1.30 pm, nine terrorist bases from 24 missiles were attacked, including the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke and major establishments at Bahawalpur, these are the places that are considered the center of terrorist activities.
• According to government sources, about 70 terrorists were killed in this campaign. Officials said this action was of understanding, proportional and non-non-nature, in which terrorist camps were targeted, especially, except citizens and military infrastructure.
• At the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave detailed information about this operation and appreciated the bravery of the Indian Army. Cabinet ministers congratulated PM Modi for this successful campaign and expressed full confidence in his leadership. According to sources, PM Modi remained in touch with the National Security Advisor and military commanders throughout the night, so that the campaign is concluded according to the plan.
• The Indian Army, Air Force and Ministry of External Affairs held a joint press briefing over ‘Operation Sindoor’, which included Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian, Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Indian Army Colonel Sophia Qureshi. Military officials also showed the clip of the attack on terrorist bases.
• Colonel Qureshi said that Pakistan has developed a network of terrorist camps, launch pads and recruitment centers within its boundaries for decades. The purpose of this operation was to demolish those foundations. “
• After the success of Operation Sindoor, the Central Government has called an all -party meeting on Thursday (May 8) at 11 am. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and senior ministers will be present.
• The agenda of the meeting focuses on giving information about Opposition leaders about Operation Sindoor and discussing future action on national security matters.
