President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday (December 28, 2025) set sail on the west coast aboard the Indian Navy’s frontline submarine INS Waghshir. Murmu is the second President of the country to travel aboard a submarine. Earlier in February 2006, the then President APJ Abdul Kalam had undertaken a sea voyage in an Indian Navy submarine.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was also present with President Draupadi Murmu when he boarded the Kalvari-class submarine from the Karwar naval base in Karnataka, officials said. Let us tell you that the President is also the supreme commander of the armed forces.

Rashtrapati Bhavan shared pictures

The President’s Secretariat shared a post in this regard on the social media platform X. The post said, ‘President Draupadi Murmu boarded Indian Navy’s indigenous Kalvari class submarine INS Waghshir at Karwar Naval Base.’

Pictures have also been shared with the post, in which the President is seen entering the submarine wearing naval uniform and before that accepting the greetings by shaking hands of the naval personnel.

What is the specialty of INS Waghshir?

The sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene project, INS Waghshir, was commissioned into the Navy in January 2025. According to naval officials, it is one of the quietest and multi-purpose diesel-electric submarines in the world. It is designed to perform a variety of missions, including surface combat, anti-submarine operations, intelligence gathering, area surveillance and special operations.

INS Waghshir is equipped with many special technologies

It is equipped with wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship missiles and advanced sonar systems. This submarine is based on modular construction technology, which allows it to be integrated with technologies such as Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology in the future. The Indian Navy is developing the Karwar Naval Base keeping in mind India’s long-term security interests in the Indian Ocean region.

The whole country celebrates the birth anniversary of former President of India and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known as Missile Man, on 15 October. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. Every year his birth anniversary is celebrated as World Student Day. This day not only reminds us of his birthday but is also considered an opportunity to remember his simplicity, honesty and inspiration. In such a situation, today on the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, let us tell you how much luggage Kalam had taken to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Reached Rashtrapati Bhavan with only two suitcases

When Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was elected President of India in 2002, Rashtrapati Bhavan was completely decorated to welcome him. Everyone expected that a lot of luggage of the new President of the country would arrive, but when he reached Rashtrapati Bhavan, everyone present there was surprised. Dr. Kalam had reached Rashtrapati Bhavan carrying only two suitcases with him. In which there were some clothes and books. Even after traveling the journey from being a scientist to becoming the President, Dr. Kalam never acquired personal wealth and whatever he earned was invested in the interest of education and society. It is believed that Dr. Kalam used to stay in the government guest house or residence wherever he worked. He always stayed away from taking luxurious houses or personal facilities.

Simplicity was visible even while leaving Rashtrapati Bhavan

In 2007, when Dr Kalam left the post of President, he still had the same two suitcases with which he had come to Rashtrapati Bhavan. He neither kept any government item with himself nor misused any facility. It is believed that at that time his simplicity and honesty made him the people’s president.

Why is World Student Day celebrated?

Every year 15 October is celebrated as World Student Day in India. This day is dedicated to the birth anniversary of Dr. Kalam. On this day his efforts for education and youth empowerment are remembered. Although the United Nations does not officially recognize this day, yet this day is celebrated in India to honor the simplicity and inspiration of Dr. Kalam.

The common citizens of the country can only reach the Chief Minister of the state or the Prime Minister of the country, but do you know that the common citizens can also send a complaint to the President of the country. Actually, you can tell the President of the country your problem through written or online medium. At the same time, being the highest constitutional post of India, the President has the right to order the concerned departments and ministries for action on the petitions and complaints of the citizens.

However, many people still do not know what is the way to send a complaint to the President. Let me tell you, this process is not only offline but is also available online. In such a situation, let us tell you today how you can send a complaint to the President.

How can you send a complaint to the President

You can use direct email id us.petitions@rb.nic.in to send your complaint to the President. Apart from this, online petitions can also be sent to presidentofindia@rb.nic.in. Apart from email, citizens can complain directly to the President directly to the President, for this they have to register at http://helpline.rb.nic.in. After registering the complaint, its situation can also be seen on the website itself.

How to complain to the President

If a citizen wants to send an online complaint to the President, then there are many options for him. Common citizens of the country can also send a complaint letter to the President by post. To send a complaint letter by post, citizens can send a complaint by post to President’s Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi-110004 Gate No. 38, Church Road by post to this address. Also, citizens can personally submit their complaint to the Central Registry section of the President’s Secretariat.

How does president secretariat settle complaints

The President’s Secretariat receives complaints from the general public and on the basis of all their information, sends them to the concerned ministry or state government of the Central Government. After the complaint is filed, the citizen is given its receipt and it is also told that the matter has been sent to which department or ministry. Apart from this, the status of complaints sent to the President to the common citizen is also given through mail or website. The headquarters of the President’s Secretariat is located in Rashtrapati Bhavan New Delhi. From here not only the official work of the President is done, but action is also taken on the complaint and petition of the citizens. Complaints going to the President’s Secretariat are settled in a scheduled time, although there is no strict time limit for this.

The President is the first citizen of the country, his security is the priority of the country. The guards deployed in their protection take great care of this. At the same time, taking the award from the President is a matter of great pride. When the President honors anyone, whatever you are, you have to follow their protocol. You cannot join hands with the President nor touch his feet even if you want to. Let’s know why this is so.

Why can’t hands join the President?

Whenever you have to get any respect at the hands of the President, you are called there a day before. Whenever the President gives you the award, you just have to greet them, you cannot join hands with them. This is a security protocol. Whether you are an artist or whatever you are, you have to follow the security protocol of the President.

Is a violation of the protocol to join hands with the President?

Now the question is also, is the President touching or touching them is a violation of the protocol? So the answer is yes. Touching the President, joining hands with them and touching the feet is against the safety protocol. The President’s security is India’s top priority. The President is the first citizens of the country and their security is paramount for the country. There is a hard circle of security around the President, which everyone needs to follow.

Protocol to meet President

There is a protocol to meet the President, not everyone can meet him like this. Neither can join hands with them nor touch their feet. The President is constitutional head in India and it is necessary to follow a greeting protocol to meet him. They can be greeted by folding their hands lightly. Touching the feet by any person, any government employee or officer falls under the category of indiscipline and a violation of the code of conduct.
