Mumbai Vegetable Price Hike: The prices of petrol and diesel are continuously increasing across the country. There is a lot of pressure on the public due to the price increase four times in just 10 days. Even in Mumbai, people were already worried about the increase in fuel prices, but now there are reports that the prices of vegetables are also skyrocketing here. In the last few weeks, the prices of vegetables have increased so rapidly in APMC Vashi market that even the kitchen budget of people has been shaken.

Why did the prices increase?
The reason behind the increase in the prices of vegetables in Mumbai is said to be the increase in the cost of transport due to the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. At the same time, traders also say that extreme heat and crop failure are also major reasons for this. On Tuesday, about 480 vehicles carrying vegetables reached the market, but these were less than normal days. The prices of vegetables have increased by about 20% in the wholesale market, while in the retail market the prices have increased even more. Vegetables like peas, French beans and beans are being sold at above Rs 100 per kg in many areas of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Kitchen budget has been shaken
According to the report of Mid Day, many people who came with him for shopping have told in the conversation that the entire budget of the kitchen of his house has gone wrong. Fatima Barde, a resident of Kharghar, said, ‘The cost of vegetables is increasing every week. Earlier, vegetables for 2-3 days could be bought for Rs 400-500, but now even normal vegetables have become expensive, due to which we have to reduce the purchase of green vegetables and beans.

Savita Rajeev, a resident of Vashi, says, ‘Now people are buying vegetables in less quantity. Tomatoes, beans, coriander and leafy vegetables have become very expensive. This is affecting middle class families the most.

Prices will increase further in June
Not only this, traders even say that schools are closed and holidays are going on, due to which the demand is a little less. But from the first week of June the demand for homes, hotels, canteen and tiffin services will increase. If the supply of vegetables remains less in the market, prices may increase further.
