Now the government has taken a big and decisive step against the arbitrary fee increase of private schools in Delhi. Delhi Government has fully implemented the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fee Determination and Regulation) Act-2025 and its related rules.

Giving this information, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that now no private school will be able to increase fees without permission and following the prescribed procedure. The purpose of this law is to provide relief to parents and bring transparency in the education system.

Education is not a business, it is the right of children – Ashish Sood

The Education Minister called it a historic reform that came after 27 years. He said that for the past several decades, fee hike in private schools had been the biggest problem for parents, but earlier governments could not bring concrete laws on this issue. The present government has implemented this law in a short time, which makes it clear that the government is taking the problems of parents seriously.

Ashish Sood said in clear words that education is not a business but the right of children. The government will ensure that private schools do not increase fees arbitrarily or without solid reason. Now the education department will examine the proposed fee increase by schools, review their financial condition and monitor the entire process. Strict action will be taken immediately if fees are increased without approval.

Parents’ participation will be mandatory in this process

Parents have also been given great power in the new law. Participation of parents will be mandatory in the process of increasing fees. Every private school will have to make public its fee structure, income-expenditure details and financial requirements. Along with this, a strong system has also been made for redressal of complaints, so that parents can express their views directly.

Special monitoring will be done on private schools- Government

For a long time, private schools in Delhi were increasing tuition fees, admission fees and other charges heavily every year. There were attempts to control fees in 2007 and 2012, but due to legal loopholes they could not remain effective for long. This new law of 2025 claims to remove all those shortcomings.

The government has said that special monitoring of all private schools will be done in the coming months. Strict steps will be taken against schools violating the rules. The government claims that this law will provide relief to lakhs of parents and the education system of Delhi will become more accountable, honest and transparent.

Children’s education in NCR is becoming very expensive, but the most pockets have to be loosened, the parents of Gurugram and Haryana are almost double the expenses of child education here.

The parents of Gurugram and Haryana have to spend double spending on their children’s education as compared to Delhi and Noida.

How much parents are spending?

According to a government survey, parents are spending an average of Rs 37148 annually on the education of children in Gurugram and surrounding Haryana cities, out of which only the course fees only go to Rs 24,838. The same expenditure in Delhi is around Rs 21,011. The average expenditure in Noida Ghaziabad and the rest of UP is only Rs 19,151.

How much is spent at which level?

The expenses also change according to which class the children study. Parents of Haryana spend the most money at the primary level. The expenditure on middle and secondary levels increases even more. Especially the expenses are at the top of higher secondary.

Difference in spending on boys and girls

Strange patterns were seen in Haryana, where girls are spent more than boys in rural families. An average of Rs 10365 on boys annually. On average 25572 rupees on girls. The opposite in Delhi and UP is the opposite, on an average of Rs 18761 on boys in Delhi, Rs 16401 is spent on girls, a little more money is spent on boys in UP.

Tuition and other expenses

This expenditure in Haryana is Rs 12,974 on an average. While Rs 5,625 in Delhi and only Rs 2,077 in UP.

Why is the expenditure in Haryana more?

There are more number of expensive private schools in Gurugram and surrounding cities, these schools charge from 3 to 15 lakh rupees annually. Delhi and UP also have expensive schools, but on an average, the expenses there are much less than Gurugram.
