A few days later, Bengali filmmaker Shyam Sundar Dey has now accused him of kidnapping, physical harassment and money in Goa. Shyam’s wife Malbika Dey has lodged an FIR against both. In such a situation, Pooja Banerjee and her husband may be arrested.

Northern Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Gupta said that according to Malbika Dey, a resident of Kolkata, the incident took place between 31 May to 4 June, when her husband Shyam, who was traveler in a rented car in Goa, was stopped by the accused and forcibly kidnapped her and was hostage in a villa. Gupta said that the complainant has alleged that the accused attacked her husband and threatened to implicate them in false charges in the drug case.

It was also alleged that the accused kept Shyam Sundar Day at different unknown places and recovered Rs 23 lakh from him. The Goa police said that they received a zero FIR from the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate in West Bengal, after which a case was registered at Kalangut police station in Goa on Thursday. The police have ordered Shyam Sundar Dey and Malbika Dey to appear at Kalangut police station on July 2 for questioning regarding the case, only after interrogation, the direction of investigation of Goa Police will be cleared.

At the same time, Pooja Banerjee posted a status on Instagram amidst this whole matter and wrote, “Going through the most difficult phase of her life. People who are standing with us – we will always be grateful to them. And those who believe in the lies being spread against us, God should also do good, I believe in God, and you know – God is watching – God is watching.”
