Whatever happened in Nepal recently, he caught the attention of the entire South Asia. The government order to ban social media websites provoked the anger of the youth (GEN-Z). Gen-Z calls them, who use social media platforms to raise their voice on digital platforms and connect with the global world. Such people were considering the decision of the government as an attack on freedom of expression. The effect of the movement was that the protesters burnt the Parliament House. Due to this, the government is expected to lose crores. It was engaged in US $ 43.5 million to make it. Apart from this, there are many such projects, which are running in Nepal from other countries. Those projects will also see the impact of the performance. The disadvantage of GEN-Z’s violent performance can directly be seen on Nepal’s economy.

The effect of protests in Nepal was that the government withdrew the decision to ban social media, but by then it was late. This was not just a technical issue. It was a dissatisfaction in the mind for decades, which suddenly burst. People were saying that social media ban is just an excuse, the real reason is the long -running corruption, political instability and unemployment. The situation worsened when the security forces tried to scare the protesters. At least 22 people died in the violence. After this, Prime Minister KP Oli had to resign from his post.

The roots of instability in Nepal’s politics
The political history of Nepal has been full of upheaval. In 1951, when the country moved towards democracy from the monarchy, it was expected that stability would come, but after that the monarchy captured power several times and weakened democratic institutions. The Maoist rebellion in the 1990s completely changed Nepal’s politics. The monarchy ended in 2006 and the Maoists emerged as the biggest political force in 2008, but they also failed to give a permanent and strong rule. Since 2008, no party in Nepal could achieve majority. In the current Parliament, the outgoing Prime Minister Oli’s party also had only 78 seats out of 285. This scattered politics made governance weak and gave an opportunity to deepen corruption.

Poverty decreased, but with the help of migrants
Despite political instability, Nepal has achieved shocking success in poverty alleviation sector. In 1995, where 55 percent of the people were below the international poverty line ($ 2.15 per day), it declined to just 0.4 per cent by 2023. However, this success has come from domestic economic development, but from the earnings and remittances of migrants. Today, about 30 percent of Nepal’s GDP is dependent on the amount coming from abroad. Some member works abroad from every fourth house. That is, a large part of Nepali society today is based on the economies of other countries of the world. This is the reason why anger increased from social media ban. This was not only an attempt to stop the voice of the younger generation, but a cheaper means was also taken away to connect with family members working abroad.

Nepal’s economy depends on migrants

The World Bank divides the economy of Nepal into three stages, which is as follows:

Conflict period (1996–2006): A round of Maoist rebellion.

Conflict period (2007-2014): Attempts for political reorganization.

Repeated shocks (2015-2023): Earthquake, epidemic and political crisis.

In all these phases, Nepal’s economy has performed poorly compared to its neighboring countries. High Remittans Flow strengthened foreign currency, but this negatively affected exports. When the migrants come back, they find it difficult to reside in the domestic economy again. The result of this is that Nepal’s economy may look stable, but it is hollow from within. It is like a mine that can burst at any time and Jane Z protests are a sign of the same.

Nepal, India’s closest neighboring country, is currently in a very worrying situation. The Gen-Z movement started in the country after banning social media has now taken a wide form. The youth of the country are playing the lead role in this demonstration, which has now become completely violent. After the protests of the youth, Nepal’s situation has now become such that the Prime Minister of the country himself. P. Sharma Oli has submitted his resignation himself. The first five ministers of the country had resigned from their posts. On the other hand, on the other hand, the eyes of the whole world are especially focused on Nepal. The news of anarchy in Nepal is in media outlets around the world and Nepal’s media is also continuously issuing updates about this protest.

After the violence in Nepal on Monday (September 8, 2025), Prime Minister K.K. P. Sharma Oli was very criticized. After this, Prime Minister K.K. P.
The Kathmandu Post, a major Nepal newspaper, said for the ongoing situation in the country and the resignation of the PM that PM Oli has resigned from his post after 19 protesters were killed and hundreds of people were injured during the nationwide agitation against corruption and anarchy in Nepal. The newspaper wrote, ‘Ever since KP Sharma Oli is in politics, there has never been a doubt about his anti -democracy stance.’

What did KP Oli say while submitting resignation?

According to another Nepali newspaper The Himalayan Times, KP Oli has published the statement of the resignation submitted to Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel. The newspaper wrote, ‘In his letter to President Ramchandra Paudel, Oli has accepted the extraordinary circumstances of the country and also advocated the constitutional political solution.’

Extensive controversy in the country over nepotism and corruption

Another newspaper named Nepali Times on Monday (September 8, 2025) said that the agitation was part of a protest that was led by Nepali, which was being led by Nepali. There was widespread discussion in Nepal about nepotism, corruption and rich-poverty gap. The youth of this country have recently seen a fierce student movement in Bangladesh regarding corruption and unemployment. He has also seen how the students’ movement in Bangladesh gained momentum and Sheikh Hasina had to leave the power of Bangladesh.

Nepal is on boil at this time. From the capital Kathmandu to different parts of the country, the flame of protest has erupted. Especially the voice of the new generation i.e. Jane Z is echoing on the streets this time. Meanwhile, a video went viral which created a stir in the whole country. In fact, the office of Nepal’s mainstream media institute Kantipur became a victim of a fierce accident. The protesters have set this institute on fire, which has been seen as a terrible glimpse.

The protesters set the media house on fire!

The smoke coming out of the multi-storey building surrounded by flames is visible far and wide. The view is so dreadful that people standing nearby were unable to believe their eyes. In a few minutes, the office windows broke and fell. The upper floors were completely hit by fire. This video, which is becoming increasingly viral on social media, is clearly visible how high flames of fire are swallowing the entire building. The reach of Kantipur office, which is counted among the largest media institutions in Nepal, is a sensational in this condition. In the era of Jane Z demonstration, this fire is being seen as a message, not just an accident.

What is the whole controversy, understand

Let us tell you that the government had recently banned 26 social media and messaging apps. It was argued that these companies did not follow rules like opening, registration and preparing Grievens Mechanism in Nepal. Interestingly, tickets and some small apps completed this process, but veteran platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube could not do this. As a result, Nepal Telecommunication Authority blocked them. However, now the ban has been withdrawn.

Former king of nepal gyanendra shah: The government has given a big blow to the last king of Nepal Gyanendra. The government has cut their security. Demonstration is going on in Nepal to bring back the monarchy at this time. It is believed that this demonstration has been started by Gyanendra and his family members.

At the same time, the Civil Body of Kathmandu has imposed a fine on former King Gyanendra Shah for the damage to public property and environment during pro -monarchy protests in the capital of Nepal. The protest was organized on the call of Gyanendra Shah, so that Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) sent a letter to his residence in Maharajganj, the outskirts of Kathmandu. In this letter, KMC has asked him to pay compensation of 7,93,000 Nepali rupees.

Passport may be canceled

The government has also started the process of canceling their passport. This fined was imposed for improper disposal of waste on roads and pavements, as well as damage to physical structures. KMC on Saturday issued a fine notice citing violations of the waste management Act, 2020 and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Finance Act, 2021.

Stressful situation in many parts of Kathmandu

According to the report, a tense situation was observed in several parts of Kathmandu on Friday, when pro -monarchy protesters pelted stones, attacked the office of a political party, set fire to vehicles and looted shops in Tinkunabneshwar area of Kathmandu. In this violent clash, two people, including a TV cameraman, died and 110 others were injured.

In a letter sent to Gyanendra Shah (whose copies were also given to the media), KMC said, “The protests organized on the call of the former emperor damaged various properties of the metropolis and influenced the environment of the capital city. Durga Prasad, the organizer of this movement, met Gyanendra Shah a day earlier and he received instructions to agitate for demanding the monarchy and Hindu state.”

This incident happened when the monarchy supporters became active since democracy day in February, when Gyanendra Shah said, the time has come that we take responsibility for protecting the country and bringing national unity. After this, the supporters of the monarchy were organizing rallies in Kathmandu and other parts of the country, demanding the reinstatement of the 240 -year -old monarchy ended in 2008.

Gyanendra Shah had to face criticism

Earlier on Monday, March 24, a group of leaders of civil society in Nepal had criticized for being politically active for the purpose of restoring Gyanendra Shah’s monarchy. Eight civil society leaders said in a joint statement, Gyanendra Shah’s into political activism thwarts their ancestors’ efforts to build nation and pose a threat to their neighbors and the world to weaken the country.
