Huge protests have been seen in Iran for the past few days. These demonstrations are taking place on the orders of the government. A large section is against it, businesses have been stopped in most places.

According to AFP news agency, members of Iranian security forces have been killed during the protests. The authorities have suddenly declared a public holiday. Due to this, businesses, universities and government offices have been closed in 21 out of 31 provinces. There are economic and political reasons behind the protests that have taken place in the country in the last few days.

Many videos are viral on social media. Violent clashes have taken place in many cities including Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Kermanshah and Fasa. The protesters have raised slogans of Down with the dictator and Down with Khamenei.

Why did the demonstrations start?
On Sunday, suddenly protests were seen in the market of Tehran. The increase in prices was seen due to the huge fall in the Iranian currency Rial. Shopkeepers came out to demonstrate on these important issues that directly affect their livelihood.

Import prices have increased due to currency depreciation. Inflation increased. Here inflation has crossed the level of more than 50%.

The effect of this protest was also seen among the students studying in the university. The protesters here have expressed deep concern over unemployment, water shortage and administrative issues.

Inquilab Manch has announced a complete blockade in all the divisional cities of Bangladesh from today (28 December). Protests have intensified in the country demanding justice for student leader Sharif Usman Hadi and demonstrations are being organized by Inquilab Manch outside the capital Dhaka as well.

According to Bangladeshi newspaper ‘The Daily Star’, the organization said in a Facebook post that the blockade will start at 11:00 am local time on Sunday. According to the report of Prothom Alo, this announcement was made from Shahbagh intersection of the capital, where Inquilab Manch was protesting since Friday. On Saturday, mainly Inquilab Manch activists blocked roads in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram and Kushtia and staged sit-ins demanding justice for Hadi, according to local media reports.

Tariq Rehman visited Hadi’s grave
The protesters who occupied Shahbag after Friday afternoon Friday prayers in Dhaka went to the front of Aziz Supermarket and allowed BNP leader Tariq Rahman to visit Hadi’s grave in Dhaka University area, the Daily Star reported. The protesters returned to Shahbag around 12:40 pm, causing a complete halt to vehicular traffic.

Inquilab Manch MP warned
Inquilab Manch MP Abdullah Al Jaber, while addressing the gathering in Shahbag, accused the government of not taking action and warned of intensifying the movement. “Today we are in Shahbag; tomorrow we can capture Jamuna (the residence of the Chief Advisor), Parliament or even the cantonment,” he said, according to the Daily Star.

Criticizing the government’s inaction, Jaber said that despite the protest continuing since Friday, no advisor has come to the protest site. “People were shivering from the cold on the streets while advisors were sleeping in their homes,” he said. He further said that public trust in the government is decreasing.

M Tauheed Hussain warned
Dhaka rejected India’s comments and claimed that how the protesters were allowed to come so close to the installation located in a secure diplomatic zone. In a statement, Bangladesh’s foreign affairs advisor M Tauheed Hossain warned that Dhaka would reduce its diplomatic presence in India if the situation worsens.

“With regard to the Indian press note, we completely reject it, absolutely reject it,” state news agency Bangladesh Sangabad Sangastha (BSS) quoted M Tauheed Hossain, foreign affairs adviser to the interim government, as saying at a media briefing on Sunday. This issue has been presented as if it is very simple, whereas in reality it is not so.

Bangladesh raised questions

He raised the question that when there was no hesitation in distributing money during the elections, then why is there a need to ask for money from poor women now. Sahni called it the dual policy of the government.

These students are angry over the issues related to the competitive PCS 2024 preliminary and RO and ARO 2023 preliminary examinations. It is alleged that despite the final result being declared by the Commission, the revised answer key has not been released.

The cut off of all sections and marks of the candidates are not being made public. There is a demand to declare candidates successful in the pre-examination up to 15 times in different recruitments. The competitive students are demanding that the marks of the candidates be made public.

Markets, shops closed from September 29

Markets, shops and local businesses are closed since 29 September. Mobile, internet and landline services are also completely closed. Thousands of people are demonstrating, throwing stones and dropping large containers, which were tried to stop march by putting on bridges.

In other cities, despite the security arrangements, the protesters took out marches and raised slogans like “Rulers, Beware, We Are Your Doom” and “Kashmir is Ors, we will decide its fate”. This is the first time that PoK citizens are directly targeting the Pakistani government and the army.
