Assembly Election 2026: Amidst voting for Puducherry Assembly elections, BJP has expressed confidence of forming the next government. Chief Minister N. Rangaswami has claimed to return to power.

With over 82 per cent voting recorded in the 2021 assembly elections, officials expressed hope that participation could exceed previous levels, reflecting strong public participation in the electoral process.

Puducherry Chief Minister N. Before casting his vote, Rangaswamy visited a temple located near his residence. On this occasion, he said that his party is confident of winning enough seats to form the government.

BJP state president V.P. Ramalingam has claimed victory for NDA. Speaking to IANS, Ramalingam said, “Today is a very good day. All the citizens are showing great interest in voting for their country. Everything is going very well. NDA is going to form the government.”

Ramalingam is contesting from Raj Bhavan assembly constituency, where he is pitted against Congress candidate R. Kumaran and DMK candidate Vignesh Kannan, making this contest very exciting.

Voting began at 7 am at 1,099 polling stations and will continue till 6 pm. Officials have indicated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful and smooth voting process. With all major political parties in the fray, a tough fight is expected between the parties to gain control of the Union Territory. Presently All India NR in Puducherry. A total of 4,836 polling personnel have been deployed with the help of 2,791 police personnel and 30 companies of Central Armed Police Forces to maintain law and order in the elections. A total of 209 polling stations have been declared sensitive and five extremely sensitive. Strict surveillance is being maintained at these places. About 2,000 student volunteers have been deployed at polling stations to assist senior citizens and disabled people.
