The religious leaders clearly said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee is a democratically elected religious body of the Sikhs. Under the Indian Constitution, no government can interfere directly or indirectly in the internal affairs of any religion. He said that challenging the administrative rights of SGPC is not acceptable.

It was told that on December 7, Amritsar Police had registered an FIR against 16 people including the former SGPC secretary in the case of disappearance of Saroop in the year 2020. There will be a ban on the sale and use of alcohol

After this decision, the government has given clear instructions to the Excise Department. The Administrative Secretary of the Excise Department has been asked to issue orders banning the sale and use of liquor and all its related products within the municipal limits of these three cities. It is believed that soon a notification may be issued regarding closure of liquor vends or shifting them to another place.

Ban on cigarettes, tobacco and intoxicants also

Health and Family Welfare Department has also been given important responsibility in this decision. The department has been requested to issue restrictive orders on the sale and use of cigarettes, tobacco and other intoxicants in these declared holy cities. The government believes that this will help in keeping the religious environment more sacred.

The Animal Husbandry Department has also been directed to issue orders to ban the sale and use of meat and related products in the walled area of ​​Amritsar, municipal limits of Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo. This step is being seen as a matter of respect for religious sentiments.

Notification has been sent to the local government department for information and necessary action. Apart from this, Deputy Commissioners of Amritsar, Rupnagar and Bathinda have also been informed about this decision and instructions have been given to take necessary steps. The order of the Punjab FDA states, “The said product has been found to be associated with the death of recently in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, so in view of the seriousness of the case, the above product is completely banned for sales, distribution and use in the state of Punjab with immediate effect in public interest.”

The order also states that all retailers, distributors, doctors registered in Punjab, hospital and healthcare institute etc. will not procure, sell or use the said product.

It has been said in the order that if any drug reserves are available in the state, then its information can be provided to the FDA (Drug Branch). There were reports of the death of children due to the stoppage of the kidneys in the last one month in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh.

A highly poisonous substance called Diathylene Glycol (DEG) was found in the Kapha syrup manufactured in Tamil Nadu. National health alert was issued after the death of children and officials were suspended in Madhya Pradesh, arrests were made, drug reserves were confiscated across the country, as well as strict changes in drug guidelines in states like Kerala and Karnataka.
