In the fourth match of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings restricted Gujarat Titans to 162 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal played the biggest role in preventing Gujarat Titans from scoring big. Chahal sent fully set Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill to the pavilion. Chahal got both these batsmen caught out. After losing the toss and coming to bat first, Gujarat Titans team could score only 162 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Only 34 runs were scored in the last 5 overs. Vijaykumar Vaishak also bowled brilliantly for Punjab. Vaishak took 3 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs.

Gujarat had a good start. Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill added 37 runs for the first wicket. Sudarshan was out after scoring 13 runs in 11 balls with the help of two fours. Marco Jansen sent him to the pavilion. After this there was a partnership of 46 runs between Gill and Jos Buttler. Captain Gill was out in the 10th over with a total score of 83. He scored 39 runs in 27 balls with the help of 6 fours. Gill was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal.

When two wickets fell at 83, Glenn Phillips came out to bat. Phillips and Butler took the innings forward. Both were well set. Phillips was caught out while trying to hit a six on the last ball of the 14th over. He scored 25 runs in 17 balls. A four and a six came from Phillips’ bat. Then on the total score of 129, Butler also returned to the pavilion in an attempt to hit a six. Butler played an innings of 38 runs in 33 balls. Three fours and two sixes came from his bat.

After the dismissal of Phillips and Butler, the pace of runs decreased completely. Washington Sundar, who came at number five, was out after scoring 18 runs in 16 balls with the help of two fours. Shahrukh Khan also could not score runs fast. He was out after scoring four runs in six balls. Rahul Tewatia returned unbeaten on 11 runs in 10 balls.

Punjab bowlers used the slow pitch of Mullanpur well. Marco Yansen gave only 20 runs in 4 overs and took one wicket. Chahal took two wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Vaishak gave 34 runs in 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh was a bit expensive. He gave 42 runs in 4 overs. Arshdeep bowled the last over of 11 balls.

The fourth match of IPL 2026 was breath-taking. The match was completely in the hands of Punjab Kings till 20 overs of the first innings and 12 overs of the second innings, but then Gujarat Titans made a charismatic comeback. From 110-2, Punjab’s score became 144-7. It seemed that Gujarat would win the lost match, but Cooper Connolly did not let this happen. He stood alone and returned after giving victory to Punjab. Cooper Connolly played a match-winning inning of 72 runs in 44 balls. 5 fours and 5 sixes came from his bat. Gujarat Titans had scored 162 runs after playing first. In reply, Punjab Kings achieved the target by losing 7 wickets in the last over.

Till 12 overs in the second innings, it seemed that Punjab Kings would win the match very easily, but between 12 and 15 overs, Gujarat bowlers turned the match. Punjab lost 4 wickets within 8 runs. From 110-2 the score became 118-6. It seemed that now Gujarat would turn the tables, but Connolly stood aside and did not let the tables turn. Punjab’s camp looked worried when 7 wickets fell for 144 runs, but Xavier Bartlett supported Connolly well and returned after giving victory to his team. Connolly returned unbeaten on 72 runs in 44 balls and Bartlett returned unbeaten on 11 runs in five balls.

The match turned in the last overs, Punjab had made a stormy start

Punjab Kings had a great start to chase 163 runs. Priyansh Arya was out after scoring 07 runs, but Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly made a partnership of 76 runs for the second wicket. Prabhasimran played an inning of 37 runs in 24 balls. One four and four sixes came from his bat. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 18 runs in 11 balls with the help of two sixes.

Nehal Vadhera was out on 03, Shashank Singh on 04 and Marcus Stoinis on 00. Marco Yansen could also score only 9 runs in 10 balls. However, Cooper Connolly single-handedly led Punjab to victory. Connolly played an unbeaten match-winning inning of 72 runs in 44 balls. Xavier Bartlett remained unbeaten on 11 runs in five balls.

Krishna, famous for Gujarat, bowled lethally. He took 3 wickets for 29 runs in four overs. It was Krishna who gave his life in the dead match. Apart from this, Kagiso Rabada, Ashok Sharma, Rashid Khan and Washington Sundar got one wicket each.
