Crops ruined due to severe floods in Punjab

Significantly, the death toll due to severe floods in Punjab increased to 43 on Thursday (04 September), while the crops in 1.71 lakh hectares have been wasted. The Public Works Department (PWD) contact roads of more than 101 km, 54 km scheme route of PWD and 117 km Mandi board roads have been damaged due to existing floods in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. People trapped in the flood are being safely taken out and sent to relief camps.

Rain attacks are going on in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir including Delhi. Yamuna is in spate in Delhi after heavy rains. Yamuna, which has been flourishing with water, has also immersed houses in many areas. The goods of the shops have been ruined, traffic is stalled, due to which the lives of thousands of people got upset.

The water level of the river reached 207 meters, which is the fifth time after 1963. The flood water entered the Nigambodh Ghat, causing the funeral process of funeral at Delhi’s oldest and busiest cremation ghats.

On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Punjab, the situation is getting worse. The ongoing rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have made the water level of Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers more dangerous. The boom of these rivers and seasonal drains has submerged the towns and villages, due to which the common life has completely disturbed.

In view of heavy rains alert in Punjab, four days holiday has been announced in schools. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Tuesday (August 26) that all primary, secondary, senior secondary government and private schools of the state will be closed from August 27 to August 30.

CM said, “He has been raining heavy since last days and heavy rains are being expected by the Meteorological Department for a few days.”

What did the Meteorological Department say?
