China has shown a positive attitude towards the recent visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India, saying that strong trilateral relations between India, China and Russia are important not only for regional but also global stability and peace. This statement of China has come at a time when relations between Russia and China are already strong and India-China relations are moving towards normalization.

‘India-China-Russia are important pillars of the Global South’- Ministry of External Affairs
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said in a press briefing that China, India and Russia are emerging economies and important voices of the Global South. He said that strong and lasting cooperation between these three countries will not only be beneficial for them but will also contribute to global security, development and prosperity. Guo said, ‘Keeping trilateral cooperation strong is in the interest of all countries and will prove beneficial for stability in Asia and the entire world.’

Guo Jiakun said that India, Russia and China are major developing economies and important partners of the Global South.

He said that maintaining good relations between these three countries is not only important for mutual interests. pic.twitter.com/LZNeZno4Fi

 — RT Hindi (@RT_hindi_) December 8, 2025

Towards improvement in India-China relations
China has also given positive signals on India-China relations, which have cooled down since the 2020 tension in Eastern Ladakh. Guo Jiakun said that Beijing is committed to making relations with India natural, stable and strong with a long-term perspective. He said, ‘We are ready to handle these relations with India from a strategic and long-term perspective, so that the people of both the countries can get real benefits.’

China’s reaction to Putin’s statement
Beijing was keeping an eye on the deepening Russia-India relations. In an interview given before his visit to India, Putin had described India and China as Russia’s closest friends and expressed confidence that both the countries can resolve their disputes on their own. Responding to this statement, China said that it is ready to pursue strong bilateral cooperation with both Russia and India. China’s state media gave prominence to these statements of Putin, in which he also rejected American criticism on India buying oil from Russia.

Many agreements during Putin’s visit to India
President Vladimir Putin came on an official visit to India on 4-5 December. This was his first visit to India after 2021. During this period, many important agreements related to trade, defence, energy and investment were signed. Both countries aimed to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2030 and approved a long-term economic cooperation program.

Former US Pentagon official Michael Rubin gave a taunting statement on US President Donald Trump. He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin got a warm welcome in India, for this it is not Putin but Donald Trump who deserves the Nobel Prize. It is because of Trump that India and Russia have come so close. That means now even big people of America are taking a jibe at Trump.

Because of Trump, Putin got the highest respect in India
Rubin said in an interview to ANI that Putin’s visit to India was very positive from Moscow’s point of view. India gave Putin such respect which was not found anywhere else. He said, ‘I say that Donald Trump should get the Nobel Prize because he has connected India and Russia in this way.’

But Rubio also raised the question that how successful will the agreements reached in this tour actually be? He believes that many agreements were made because of India’s anger with Trump. India was angry with the way Trump treated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.

Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin

Two different views of American policies
Rubin said that if you are a Trump supporter, this tour will feel like ‘I told you so’. Trump will feel that India’s coming closer to Russia proves his point. But if you are against Trump like 65% of Americans, then all this is the result of Trump’s big mistake.

Rubin accused Trump of turning America-India relations upside down. Trump’s decisions were influenced by flattery or bribery efforts from Pakistan, Turkey and Qatar.

It is a big mistake to weaken the strategic partnership with India.
Rubin strongly criticized Trump’s India policy. He said that many people in Washington are surprised at how Trump weakened the strategic partnership with India. This was a big mistake, which will harm America in the long run. Rubin says that Trump will never admit his mistake. He will call this the success of his foreign policy.

Rubin gave advice to America only regarding India
He advised America not to preach to India on buying Russian oil. Putin had promised to provide uninterrupted oil supply to India. Rubin said, ‘Americans do not understand how much energy India needs. India is the most populous country in the world and will soon become the third largest economy. Indians have elected Modi to protect their interests.

America itself buys oil from Russia when options are less. If America does not want India to buy Russian oil, then how will it provide cheap and required quantity of oil? If the answer is no, it is better to remain silent. India has to take care of its own security first.

Targeted at the closeness of America and Pakistan
Rubin said that America should declare Pakistan a country that harbors terrorism. If Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir comes to America, he should be arrested.

This statement of Rubin is sparking a new debate on American policies in India-Russia relations. It will be interesting to see how these relationships will change after Trump’s return.

Today is the second day of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India. In the morning he went to Rashtrapati Bhavan, then paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and then had talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. While giving a joint statement, both the leaders gave many examples of friendship.

PM Modi said- Putin irrigated relations
PM Modi said in celebration of Putin’s visit to India, ‘Today I am very happy to welcome President Putin to the 23rd summit of India and Russia. His visit is taking place at a time when our bilateral relations are passing through several historic milestones. Exactly 25 years ago, President Putin laid the foundation of our strategic partnership. 15 years ago in 2010, our partnership got the status of Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi further said, ‘For the last two and a half decades, he has continuously nurtured these relationships with his leadership and vision. His leadership has given mutual relations new heights in every situation. I am deeply thankful to President Putin, my friend, for this deep friendship and his efforts for India.

Putin said that important talks took place between us
Putin also expressed happiness on coming to India. He said, ‘I am heartily thankful to President Draupadi Murmu and PM Modi for this warm welcome. We have discussed in the spirit of friendship and partnership.

PM Modi described his friendship with Putin as historic and strong.

Both the leaders described their friendship as very strong
PM Modi described his friendship with Putin as a pole star. PM Modi said, ‘In the last 8 decades, there have been many ups and downs in the world, humanity has had to go through many challenges and crises, but even in the meantime, the friendship between India and Russia has remained like a pole star.’

At the same time, Putin said, ‘The relations between the two countries are very old and deep. These are not just words, there is a very strong and true basis behind them. The friendship between India and Russia is not just in name, but they are trustworthy to each other.

Agreement on economic cooperation program
PM Modi said, ‘Today we discussed all aspects of cooperation to further strengthen this foundation. It is our common responsibility to take economic cooperation to new heights. To make this a reality, today we have agreed on an economic cooperation program till 2030. This will make our trade and investment diverse, balanced and sustainable.

He further said, ‘Today President Putin and I will get a chance to attend the India-Russia Business Forum. I am confident that this platform will give new strength to our business relations. This will also open new doors for export, co-production and co-innovation.

India-Russia will cooperate on agriculture and fertilizer sectors
PM Modi said, ‘Both sides are trying to end the FTA with the Eurasian Economic Union soon. Our close cooperation in the field of agriculture and fertilizers is essential for food security and betterment of farmers. I am happy that taking this forward, both the parties are now trying to produce urea together.

India-Russia together against terrorism
Modi said, ‘India and Russia have been standing shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism for a long time. Be it the terrorist attack in Pahalgam or the cowardly attack on Crocus City Hall, the root of all these incidents is the same.

He said, ‘India firmly believes that terrorism is a direct attack on the values of humanity and the unity of the world against it is our greatest strength. India and Russia have close cooperation on UN, G20, BRICS, SCO and other forums. We will continue our dialogue and cooperation on all these platforms.

Putin said, ‘PM Modi and I have created a close working dialogue. We met during the SCO summit and we ourselves are overseeing the Russia-India dialogue.

30 day tourist visa will be issued for Russian citizens
Modi said, ‘In October this year, lakhs of devotees took blessings of the holy relics of Lord Buddha at the International Buddhist Forum. I am happy that we are soon going to launch 30-day free e-tourist visa and 30-day group tourist visa for Russian citizens.

India-Russia business increased by 12% in 1 year
Putin said, ‘Last year the two-way trade between India and Russia increased by 12%. This is a new record in itself. This figure may look slightly different in different sources, but on average it is about US$64 billion. We are estimating that this year also the level of business will remain equally strong. Both the countries are ready to take this trade to 100 billion dollars.

Nuclear plant being built with the help of Russia
Putin said, ‘Russia and India together are building the largest nuclear power plant in India. This is Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (Tamil Nadu). This is not India’s but Asia’s largest nuclear project. A total of 6 reactors are being built in this plant. Each reactor will generate 1000 MW electricity. That means, once the entire project is ready, 6000 MW (6 GW) electricity will be available from here. Three out of six reactors have already been connected to India’s energy network. The remaining 3 reactors (Units 4, 5 and 6) are in different stages of construction.

PM Modi said, ‘Energy security has been a strong and important pillar of India-Russia partnership. Our decades-long cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy has been important in realizing our shared priorities of clean energy. We will continue this win-win cooperation.

Apart from this, many discussions took place between the two leaders, in which issues like critical minerals, connectivity, Vladivostok corridors and cultural cooperation were discussed.

In the end, PM Modi said, ‘I am confident that in the times to come, our friendship will give us the strength to face global challenges and this trust will further enrich our common future.’

Important agreements between India and Russia

Senior Congress Party leader Hussain Dalwai has raised questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifting ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Gita’ to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that politics of religion should not be brought into this. If brought then Quran Sharif, Bible and Guru Granth Sahib should have also been given.

Congress leader Hussain Dalwai, while talking to news agency IANS, said, ‘What is the purpose of presenting ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Gita’ to him (Russian President Putin)? I didn’t understand that. I will not say much on this, but along with ‘Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta’, Quran Sharif, Bible and Guru Granth Sahib should also have been given. Along with Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta, he should also have given the book of Mahabharata.

Controversial statement of Congress MP

Referring to the Ukraine war, the Congress leader said, ‘Russia has killed many people. Perhaps the Prime Minister might have presented Srimad Bhagavad Gita to President Putin for the purpose of considering it.

Good relations with Russia since the time of Nehru-Indira: Dalwai

On Russian President Putin’s visit to India, the Congress leader said, ‘Since the time of Nehru, India has worked to maintain strong relations with Russia. Indira Gandhi had also signed a treaty with Russia. When there was a war with Pakistan over Bangladesh, Russia helped India. This friendship has been going on since long. Those relationships are getting stronger, so that’s a great thing.

Statement given on Babri Masjid also

Meanwhile, Hussain Dalwai said on Humayun Kabir’s statement on ‘Babri Masjid’ on December 6, ‘It was done deliberately.’

He also claimed that Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Day is celebrated throughout the country. To reduce the importance of this day, the demolition of the mosque was done on 6 December.

Putin India Visit: At present the world seems to be clearly divided into two axes. On one side is Russian President Vladimir Putin and on the other side is American President Donald Trump. America’s tariff policy and the anti-Russian stance of Western countries have increased global tension.

At the same time, India and China are prominent among the countries that openly support Russia. This support Russia is getting from Asia is troubling the western countries. In this background, Putin’s visit to India has become even more important.

Strategic strength of India and Russia in the eyes of China

China’s official newspaper Global Times wrote that the two leaders will discuss important issues like defense cooperation, energy security, trade expansion, technology and partnership in new emerging capabilities. Besides, the geopolitical situation of Euro Asia and Indo Pacific region will also be considered. According to reports, India and Russia are going to sign 10 government agreements and more than 15 business deals. This visit is taking place at a time when the European Commission is coming forward with tough proposals on the use of Russian funds, hence Putin’s visit to India is being considered as a direct message to the Western countries.

‘India-Russia partnership will not come under external pressure’

Professor Li Haidong of China Foreign Affairs University told Global Times that India-Russia relations are extremely strategic and can withstand any external pressure. He says that this partnership shows that neither India nor Russia is going to bow down to Western pressure. According to Lee, this cooperation shows the world that Russia is still an influential power and Western sanctions have not been able to weaken it. Also, India is not going to come under the pressure of America to buy oil and decides its foreign policy only on the basis of national interests.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently on a visit to India. His image in world politics is that of a very influential leader, but one of his habits always surprises people. He neither uses internet nor uses smartphone. This reason for maintaining distance from modern technology is hidden in an old belief of his.

According to the report of The Guardian, Putin has said on many forums that the entire internet system has developed under the supervision of America. In a press meeting held in St. Petersburg, he had said that the roots of the Internet are linked to the American agency CIA and they decide its direction. He believes that the Internet is such a platform from where the activities of the world can be easily monitored.

Snowden’s revelations increased Russia’s vigilance

Putin’s suspicions became stronger after spying on the secret information given by Edward Snowden. Snowden had told that America’s security agencies record the activities of people around the world through big tech companies. Putin believes that the national security of a country can be affected by taking advantage of the weaknesses of the Internet.

Why does Russia want its own internet?

Putin has long held the view that Russia should create an Internet system that runs under its control. Their logic behind this is that dependence on foreign servers can endanger the security of the country. Many Russian experts believe that strengthening the local network will reduce risks like external pressure and surveillance.

Does Russia also track people’s movements?

In a TV program, Snowden had asked Putin whether Russia also keeps digital surveillance on its citizens. On this, Putin laughingly said that Russia does not have the capacity and huge budget as America. His answer was considered half joke and half hint, as if he did not want to discuss this topic in depth.

Also read: Two planes, one President… The world kept watching, the secret of Putin’s secret flight was revealed after reaching Delhi!

Just hours before setting foot on Indian soil, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an interview in the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin, which caught the attention of the world. For the first time, he spoke openly to two Indian women journalists about his personal views, feelings towards India and relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This interview has come at the same time when India-Russia relations are at a new turning point and global politics is changing rapidly. During this conversation, Putin told the truth behind the story of the car ride with PM Modi during the SCO summit.

The day when Prime Minister Modi and Putin were seen sitting in the same Aurus Senate car after the SCO conference held in Tianjin, that moment became a part of history. When asked about this moment, Putin laughed lightly and said that there was no diplomatic formality in it. He himself had proposed that both of them should sit together and go. According to him, this step was a proof of personal trust and comfort between the two leaders. Putin also said that all this happened without any planning. As soon as we sat in the car the conversation started rapidly and even after reaching the destination the conversation continued for about 45 minutes.

Modi’s post, Putin’s wait and long conversation

While returning from the SCO conference, PM Modi had posted a picture with Putin on social media and wrote that conversations with him are always instructive. Reports from that day suggest that Putin himself waited for about ten minutes to receive the Prime Minister. Both went together from the conference venue to the hotel and even after reaching the hotel, an informal discussion continued for more than half an hour. This was the time when the world was witnessing slight tension in India-US relations, yet the warmth between India and Russia remained the same as before.

Why this message of friendship is important amid international tension

In recent times, there was tension in the economic relations between the two countries due to the taxes and warnings imposed by America on India regarding the purchase of Russian crude oil. Despite this, this scene of friendship between Putin and PM Modi gives a new signal to both public opinion and global politics that India does not take its diplomatic decisions under any pressure. Its relationship with Russia is strong not only at the strategic but also at the personal level.

This trip to India is historic

This visit of Putin has brought with it many historical references. For the first time after 2021, he is setting foot on Indian soil. This visit is taking place on the occasion of completion of 25 years of India-Russia partnership and along with it the 23rd annual bilateral summit is also being organized.

full tour schedule

With Putin’s arrival, Delhi honored him as a special guest. Breaking the tradition of protocol, Prime Minister Modi himself went to the airport and welcomed him. After that a special dinner was organized at the PM’s residence. Today the delegations of both the countries will sit face to face, in which it is expected to agree on many new guiding policies regarding military cooperation, technology, energy and trade. At the end of the day both the leaders will also issue a joint statement.

Indian Products in Russia: India buys crude oil from Russia on a large scale. Due to this, US President Donald Trump doubled the 25 percent tariff on India as a penalty. Now 50 percent tariff is imposed on goods imported from India into America.

However, trade between India and Russia is not limited to crude oil only. Its scope is increasing in various segments like pharmaceuticals, construction materials, processed food, interior, electronics etc. Today there is a trade of more than USD 68 billion between the two countries. Let us see in this order what all the things Russia buys from India on a large scale:-

tea and spices

Indian tea and its spices are recognized all over the world. There is a good demand for them in Russia also. In the last few years, the trend of Indian masala tea has increased rapidly here. In the harsh cold, people here like to enjoy masala tea by sipping it. Apart from this, you can easily find Indian spices like cinnamon, bay leaf, turmeric, garam masala, cardamom, cloves in the supermarket of any city in Russia.

grains and pulses

Russia also buys pulses from India on a large scale. Especially, lentils. Apart from this, Russia also imports moong, gram and yellow peas from India. Coffee, rice, banana, papaya, processed food, meat are also sent from India to Russia.

basmati rice

Russia is also crazy about India’s beautiful, high quality Basmati rice. Its demand is continuously increasing here. Not only are they fragrant and tasty to eat, but they are also very beneficial for health because they contain more fiber and have a lower glycemic index. In such a situation, Basmati rice is also sent to Russia in large quantities from India.

vegetables

India also exports vegetables in large quantities to Russia. This list includes grapes, raisins and dry vegetables as well as onion, cabbage, garlic, ginger and root vegetables. According to India’s export data, the total export of vegetable products to Russia in 2024-25 was $75,229,407.

textile

A lot of clothes are also sent from India to Russia. These include clothes made from silk to cotton clothes. India also buys raw materials for this from Russia.

pharmaceuticals

With the increase in exports in the last few years, India has become Russia’s top pharmaceutical resource. According to India export data, India’s pharmaceutical exports to Russia in 2024-25 were worth $520,549,626.

machinery

India exports machinery and mechanical appliances to Russia for its domestic infrastructure development and modernization. With the increase in India-Russia trade, machinery and mechanical appliances came first in the top product list.

Indian restaurants in Russia

Apart from this, people in Russia also like cooked Indian food very much. There are many such Indian restaurants from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where not only are there crowds of expatriates, but Russians are also seen tasting Indian food. In the customer list of these restaurants, 70–80 customers are Russians.

Yoga is an ancient tradition of India, which is now being adopted by the whole world. In all the big cities of Russia like Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok, you will find Ayurvedic treatment centers, yoga studios, massage therapy centers. Their popularity is gradually increasing here. Apart from this, herbal oils and skincare products are also in great demand. There is also a good demand for yoga instructors in Russia. The concept of ‘Natural Healing’ is emerging among the Russian people.

magic of bollywood

The era of Bollywood craze that started in Russia with veteran actor Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Awara’ continues even today. Films like ‘Awara’, ‘Shree 420’ were widely watched in Russian theatres. 640 lakh tickets of the film ‘Awara’ were sold in Russia. You can understand to what extent the people there are crazy about Indian cinema. Russian people like spicy Indian films, which have strong stories, songs and good dialogues. This is the reason why in today’s time, films like ‘Dangal’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Baahubali’ are also liked by the people here.
