In the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin made serious allegations against Western countries regarding the Ukraine war. Putin said that the West was constantly trying to include Ukraine in NATO and this is one of the main reasons for this war.

Meeting of meeting with Trump

According to Reuters, Putin in his address mentioned the recent summit with US President Donald Trump. He said that he has discussed the results of this meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders of other countries. However, till now that conversation has not been able to get any concrete results about the ceasefire.

Putin clarified Russia’s security theory

Putin clarified that Russia has always been maintained on the principle that no country can ensure its security at the cost of another country. According to him, the strategy of Western countries goes against this principle and this is the cause of conflict.

Ukraine rejected Putin’s argument

In his speech given at the SCO Summit, Putin said that Russia follows the principle that no country can ensure its security at the cost of another country.

At the same time, the Ukraine government rejected Putin’s claim outright. Ukraine says that the attack by Russia in 2022 was a well-planned regional occupation attempt, which had nothing to do with NATO. Kiev insisted that Russia was already making a strategy to weaken Ukraine’s sovereignty and regional integrity.

Ukraine war became a topic of discussion in SCO Summit

Ukraine War and Global Security issues remain the most important agenda at the ongoing two -day SCO summit in Tianjin. In this, 8 member countries including China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus are participating.
