Russia -India -china trilateral dialogue: China said on Thursday that it advocates to resume Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral cooperation. This cooperation format was in cold storage for a long time. Beijing said that RIC is very important for the interests of the three countries as well as global stability.

Russia’s initiative, China’s support
Russian news portal Izhawstia reported that Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudankco has said that Moscow expects the restoration of RIC format and is interacting with China and India on the issue. He said that this cooperation is important as the founder and strategic partner of BRICS. Rudenko also said that they see this format getting active again, provided the relations of the three countries reach the level that can make trilateral meetings possible.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Gian, reacting to Rudenco’s statement in press briefing, said that China is ready to continue the dialogue with India and Russia to protect the interests of the three countries and promote global stability through RIC.

Jayashankar’s visit to China increased stir
Russia and China’s interest in RIC recently increased when Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar visited China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. During this, he also met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Sergei Lavrov of Russia.

S jaishankar in quad meeting: A meeting of foreign ministers of Quad countries was held on Tuesday at the US capital Washington DC. In this meeting, the diplomatic efforts of India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar were highly appreciated. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Jaishankar as a ‘very busy man’ and said that he has seen him in different countries several times in six months.

Strategic partnership and new initiative in quad meeting
Foreign ministers of India, America, Japan and Australia insisted on deepening the mutual strategic partnership in the Quad meeting. In the Indo-Pacific sector, there was talk of measures to maintain independence, strengthen marine security and increase regional stability. After the meeting, Jaishankar described it as very productive on social media and also held a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Launched Quad Critical Minerals Initiative
Quad countries jointly announced a new initiative, which is named Quad Critical Minerals Initiative. Its purpose is to make the mineral supply chain safe and diverse so that the four countries together can strengthen economic security and collective self -reliance. It was called an ambitious expansion of our partnership.

Business agreement expected
Prior to the meeting, Jaishankar had said that the Indo-US trade talks are progressing and some concessions will be necessary to find a middle way. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump said that the US can make a trade agreement with India, which will benefit American companies and face less tariffs in India. However, he raised doubts over the deal with Japan to a time limit.

Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that Operation Sindoor gave a very clear message to the world that India will take action against terrorism. Jaishankar also spoke on the joint statement of the quad countries on the Pahalgam terror attack and cross -border terrorism during a press conference in Washington on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) and said that it is important that quad countries have spoken of bringing criminals into the dock of justice.

Pakistan may have kept saying that the quad countries did not mention it while condemning the Pahalgam terror attack, but the gesture in the joint statement was towards him. Jaishankar said, ‘What is important for us in the statement issued by Quad and the statement issued by the Security Council on 25 April is that the criminals of terrorism should be held accountable. They should be brought to the dock of justice.

The aim of Operation Sindoor started on May 7 is that if there are terrorist attacks, we will take action against those who carried out them, their supporters, financers and colleagues, so I think this message was given very clearly.

Quad condemns terrorism across the border
Foreign Ministers of Quad countries- Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japan Foreign Minister Takeshi Ivaya clearly condemned all types of terrorism and violent extremism including cross-border terrorism.

The Quad called for conspiring for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, those who carried out it into the dock of justice without any delay and appealed to the UN member countries to increase cooperation in this regard.

The member countries of the quad condemned this terrorist attack on 22 April and strongly supported the action against cross -border terrorism. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack.

The joint statement said, ‘We call for the criminals of this condemnable act, who execute it into the dock of justice without any delay and urge all the UN member countries to actively cooperate with all the concerned authorities in this regard as per their obligations under the relevant proposals of the International Law and United Nations Security Council.’

The press statement of the United Nations Security Council condemned the Pahalgam attack and members of the Security Council emphasized the need to hold this condemnable act of terrorism, accountable to those who executed and bring them into the dock of justice.

In response to the Pahalgam attack, India started Operation Sindoor by targeting the infrastructure of terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The responsibility of the Pahalgam attack was taken by The Resistance Front (TRF) affiliated to the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Jaishankar said that he told his counterparts at the globally as well as the nature of the challenge of terrorism that India has been facing and which he has been facing for many decades and we are determined to answer it very strongly today and we have the right to protect ourselves.

Jaishankar’s meeting with Rubio too
Jaishankar said that apart from discussion in the quad, he had a good bilateral meeting with Rubio and the two leaders discussed the events of the last six months and discussed the path ahead. He said, “During this meeting, business and investment, technology, defense, energy and mobility were discussed”. ” He said that Jaishankar also held separate bilateral talks with US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth and Energy Minister Chris Wright.

In response to a question asked about a US plan to impose 500 percent duty on imports from Russian oil buying countries under a bill of US MP Lindsay Graham, Jaishankar said that the Indian embassy and officials are in touch with Graham on the issue. Jaishankar said, “… our concerns about energy security and our interests have been made aware.”

Quad Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack: India has got very diplomatic success. Foreign ministers of the Quad group along with the US, Japan and Australia have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. 26 innocent citizens were killed in this attack.

In a joint statement released after the meeting held in Washington, the quad countries said that the organizers, attackers and those who provide financial assistance should be brought to the dock as soon as possible. He also opposed all kinds of violence and extremism, including cross -border terrorism. Foreign ministers reiterated that the quad is against any type of terrorism and all countries should work together for global peace. India has welcomed this international support and described it as the strength of its policy against terrorism.

We want the people involved in this attack, the planned and the money paying the money should be punished as soon as possible. We appeal to all the United Nations countries to help them to investigate together under the law.”
