Angel Chakma, a 24-year-old student from Tripura, has died after the attack in Dehradun. A medical report from Graphic Era Hospital has revealed that the student suffered serious injuries. Uttarakhand government has expressed deep concern over this incident. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami termed the attack completely unacceptable and talked about strict action against the culprits.

In the hospital investigation report, deep wounds have been found in the back and head of the deceased student. There were several scratches on his leg, while the right side of his body (both upper and lower limbs) was severely bruised and the right side was paralyzed. Apart from this, spinal cord injury and cracks in the brain have also been mentioned in the report.

The incident that started on December 9 in protest against alleged racial abuse at a roadside dhaba under Selaqui police station area of ​​Dehradun quickly turned into violence. During this, Angel was attacked with a sharp weapon, due to which he was seriously injured.

Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh said that the accused seemed drunk and within a few minutes the situation went out of control. Angel collapsed on the spot with head and back injuries and was immediately taken to Graphic Era Hospital, where he was treated for more than 17 days and died from his injuries on December 26.

Following the complaint by Angel’s family, the police registered an FIR and formed a special team to investigate the case. Police have so far arrested 5 people, including 2 minors who have been sent to a juvenile home. The arrested people have been identified as Avnish Negi, Shaurya Rajput, Suraj Khawas, Sumit and Ayush Baroni. One suspect is currently absconding, who is suspected to have fled to Nepal. Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest and a team has been sent to help locate him.
