The Indian Air Force is now going to further strengthen its air security from Israeli’s advanced decoy system to save Rafale fighter jets from enemy missiles. According to sources, India has intensified efforts for the earliest supply of Israeli X-Guard Fiber-Optic Towed Decoy System.

What is this decoy system?

This system named X-Guard Towed Decoy has been created by the Israeli company. When an enemy attacks the missile aircraft, the dicky shows itself like a real aircraft, making the missile aiming the dicky instead of the real aircraft.

This system is connected to a cable behind the aircraft and is activated during the flight. When the mission is complete, it is pulled back into the aircraft.

Test has been done twice

India also tested this system in its Rafale Jet in 2019 and 2023. But the delivery is delayed due to tension in West Asia and interruption in supply chains. Now India wants it to be achieved as soon as possible.

Preparations to increase security after Operation Sindoor

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, India ran Operation Vermation on 7 May. After this, India has started further strengthening its Air Force. Many more advanced features are being added to Rafale aircraft, such as displays on helmets, enemies identified with sensors and ability to fly from high hilly areas.

Why is this decoy important?

The decoy system is a reliable way to avoid enemy missiles. With this, Rafale aircraft can also fly safely on dangerous missions. India now wants to further strengthen its Air Force with such a modern system.

Apart from this, this system uses advanced algorithms and radar signature to differentiate between friends and enemy aircraft. After this, the type of aircraft is identified through radar cross connection and other characteristics. Talking about the missile, if it is found after seeing the speed, height and direction of the missile, it is found that it is coming towards our country, then it is obvious that the enemy is the missile of the country.
