The strike, called by the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFATW), coincides with peak demand at the end of the year, one of the most essential periods for food and grocery delivery. Delivery partners have repeatedly raised concerns about opaque algorithm-based targets, arbitrary penalties, sudden payment changes and lack of an effective grievance redressal mechanism – highlighting the challenges facing India’s fast-growing gig economy.

On this blast near Red Fort metro station, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said – ‘Today at around 6:52 pm, a slow moving vehicle stopped at a red light. There was an explosion in that vehicle, due to which the nearby vehicles were also destroyed. All agencies including FSL and NIA are present at the spot. All the agencies are reaching the incident site and taking stock, each and every aspect of the accident is being investigated. Whatever evidence is found in the investigation, action will be taken accordingly. Whatever happens, everyone will be informed about it.
