The first phase of voting for the formation of the 18th Assembly in Bihar is on 6 November 2025, Thursday. In this election, a close contest is being considered between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led Grand Alliance (MGB). Apart from this, Jan Suraaj formed by Prashant Kishor, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) headed by Tej Pratap Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram- APS-K) headed by Nagina MP Chandrashekhar and Swami Prasad Maurya’s own party, who was a cabinet minister in the UP government. (Apni Party) is also in the fray on some seats.

Talking about NDA, along with BJP are Janata Dal United (JDU) led by CM Nitish Kumar, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) headed by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas- LJP-R) led by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. In the Grand Alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Indian National Congress (Congress), Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and Left parties are together.

In the first phase, more than 3 crore voters will exercise their franchise in 121 assembly constituencies of 18 districts of the state – Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Buxar, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Madhepura, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Vaishali and Samastipur.

There are 1,314 candidates for these 121 seats, of which 1,192 are male and 122 are female candidates. 3 crore 75 lakh 13 thousand 302 voters will take part in the first phase of voting. There are 3 lakh 22 thousand 77 disabled voters, 6 thousand 736 centenarians and 9 lakh 6 thousand government servant voters.

In the first phase, Raghunathpur, Gopalganj, Mahua, Raghopur, Alinagar, Gaura Bauram, Buxar, Danapur, Maner, Tarapur, Lakhisarai, Munger and Ekma – these are the 13 assembly constituencies on which everyone’s eyes will be.

In the voting on November 6, the fate of many big faces including Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Janashakti Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav, Anant Singh, Veena Devi, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy CM Vijay Sinha, Maithili Thakur, Ramkripal Yadav, Bhai Virendra in the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance government, will be captured in the EVM.

The BJP leader said that if Tejashwi Yadav has lost his support base, there is no question of him becoming the Chief Minister. As far as becoming a hero is concerned, Tejashwi Yadav is not the hero of Bihar but the villain. Scams, corruption, creating fear, giving protection to criminals, carrying out massacres, giving protection to rapists, getting kidnapped by their goons for ransom, then if such people are called heroes like Lalu Yadav, then see how much the people of Bihar are laughing at them.

‘Tejashwi Yadav betrayed Raghopur’

Nityanand Rai said, “Tejashwi Yadav has betrayed Raghopur. When the people of Raghopur used to go to meet him, he used to get them lathicharged, used to humiliate them. He used to beat people of his father’s age and even used police batons on the youth. So this time the people of Raghopur want development. They want respect. They want service to their area.”

In view of the assembly elections in Bihar, political temperature is on the rise. Meanwhile, Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore surrounded RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He claimed on Saturday (October 11) that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will lose his Raghopur Assembly seat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, just like Congress’s Rahul Gandhi faced a humiliating defeat in UP’s Amethi Lok Sabha constituency six years ago.

Prashant Kishore spoke to the media in Patna before starting his party’s campaign from Raghopur, but did not comment on the possibility of contesting the elections himself.

I am going there to meet Jan Suraj’s colleagues from that area and ask him that if the people of Raghopur are to be freed from poverty, misery and backwardness, then who should contest the elections?
