Railway Loco Pilot Demands: At present, Indigo is facing a big flight crisis in the country. Thousands of passengers are stranded between canceled flights, long delays and changed bookings. In this environment, now a new concern has come to light from the Railways side also. Loco pilot means the driver who drives the train. They are insisting on the demand of fixing their working hours. He says that without adequate rest, he drives the train every day in extreme fatigue.

Due to which the risk of accident increases. Pilots argue that after the IndiGo crisis, the government approved airline pilots on the basis of strict safety rules. So Railways should also adopt similar scientific work system. But if people come to answer to these demands on pilot demonstration. Then it may be difficult for the Railways.

Can the railways come to a standstill?

Loco pilots have demanded from the government that their duty should be limited to 6 hours. After every duty, there should be fixed rest of 16 hours and there should also be fixed off time in the week. According to him this is necessary for security. But if the talks are stalled and the employees start agitating. So it can have a direct impact on trains. Delays, cancellations and schedule disturbances may increase.

Just like thousands of flights were stopped across the country due to IndiGo’s crisis. Currently, IndiGo’s crisis has reached its 8th day and more than 2000 flights have been cancelled. The demands of the railway pilots were not accepted and the situation worsened. So the country’s largest passenger service system may also come under pressure. Due to which lakhs of passengers may be affected.

Also read: If you have forgotten your UAN number then you can recover it like this, PF account holders should know this important thing.

Why did the demand for railway pilots increase?

AILRSA i.e. All India Loco Running Staff Association says that for years all they have been demanding is that their duties should be decided according to the capacity of the human body. Pilots say that sometimes they have to work continuously for 10 to 12 hours. Long night duties, overtime and frequent trips without scheduled rest leave them mentally and physically exhausted.

His argument is that a tired loco pilot puts not only his own safety but the lives of thousands of passengers at risk. In the IndiGo case, the fatigue of pilots was taken seriously and talk of a system like FRMS was raised. On the same basis, railway pilots are saying that there should not be double standards. Their demand is that Railways should also set rules as per scientific and safe working system.

Also read: A mutilated note of Rs 500 has come out of the ATM, you can get it exchanged here

Railway employees are angry about this matter

AILRSA clearly said that when government or public sector employees raise their voice to improve their condition. So action is taken against them. But when big private companies like IndiGo challenge the safety rules. So the government seems to be taking their side. The association alleges that despite IndiGo violating the rules related to rest and duty hours of pilots, the government showed leniency.

On the contrary, strict action is taken against railway employees even in case of minor agitation. He says that FRMS i.e. Fatigue Risk Management System is a proven model across the world and it is mandatory for the aviation sector. So why is there so much delay in implementing it in the railway work.

Railway Added Extra Coaches: The problem of passengers is the biggest issue in the country at this time. After the halt of Indigo’s flight services, thousands of people are stranded and there are less options to travel long distances. The rates of other flights are skyrocketing. In such an environment, Railways showed promptness. From December 6, 2025, 116 extra coaches have been added to 37 trains across the network.

Due to which seats in trains have increased. Apart from this, Railways has further increased the capacity with 114 separate trips and has also rolled out four special trains. Due to this, the increased pressure due to flight cancellations will now be handled in a better way on trains and passengers will get another option for long distances. See in which trains the coaches were increased.

Maximum number of coaches were installed in Southern Railway

Indian Railways has increased the maximum number of coaches in Southern Railway. Southern Railway alone has installed chair car and sleeper class coaches in 18 trains. This system has come into effect from 6th December. Therefore, people traveling in South India are getting immediate relief. The demand for tickets had increased rapidly in the last few days and due to these new coaches, passengers will now get some relief.

Northern Railway also increased capacity

Talking about Northern Railway, here too the pressure of passengers was increasing and for this reason NR has added 3AC and chair car coaches in 8 trains. These changes have come into effect immediately. Due to this, seats have increased on important routes going towards Delhi, Punjab, Jammu and North-East. New coaches have been directly installed in trains like Jammu Tawi Rajdhani, Dibrugarh Rajdhani, Chandigarh Shatabdi and Amritsar Shatabdi. The timeline of coach edition for the scheduled days has also been released. Due to which passengers facing flight problems get an option.

Northern Railway increased the coaches of these trains for the convenience of passengers.

A 3rd AC coach in Train No. 12425/26 Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Train

Train No. 12424/23 Dibrugarh Rajdhani has a 3rd AC coach

A coach of chair car in train no. 12045/46 Chandigarh Shatabdi train

A chair car coach in train number 12030/29 Amritsar Shatabdi train

Extra coaches were added to these trains also

Railways has also implemented seat increase on the route from New Delhi to Jammu Tawi and back. An additional 3rd AC coach is being added in 12425 New Delhi to Jammu Tawi train from 6th December to 11th December. On the other hand, the same extra facility will be available in train 12426 Jammu Tawi coming from New Delhi from December 5 to December 12. This will significantly increase the chances of people traveling in both directions getting a confirmed seat.

Similarly, the Rajdhani route has also been expanded. 12424 Rajdhani from New Delhi to Dibrugarh will be added from 6th to 11th December. The same extra coach will run in return 12423 Rajdhani from Dibrugarh to Delhi from 8th to 13th December. Meaning, passengers going towards North East will also get more options in this peak travel window.

For Shatabdi route, train number 12029 New Delhi to Amritsar Shatabdi will have the facility of an extra chair car on 6th and 7th December. The same arrangement will be implemented in 12030 Shatabdi returning from Amritsar to New Delhi on the same two days. With this, the increased demand on the Delhi-Punjab corridor can be easily handled.

Four special trains started

Along with this, four special trains have also been announced. Vande Bharat Special for Gorakhpur to Anand Vihar, New Delhi to Jammu route, New Delhi – Mumbai Central Superfast Special and Hazrat Nizamuddin – Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Special trains are being started immediately.

Punishment For Using Electric Kettle In Train: Many people travel by train every day in India. Many people also do strange things during travelling. Recently, a woman was seen making Maggi in a coach by installing an electric kettle. After which the Railways took action. This is not the first time. Many travelers bring such gadgets with them to make the journey easier. But one thing has to be understood here. Train is not a private place. This is a public service completely governed by rules.

If everyone starts using electric things as per their convenience then the danger in the coach increases. Many times incidents like overheating, short circuit and smoke spread have also happened. Therefore, Railways has made clear rules for electrical equipment. If you do not follow these, fine may also be imposed. Let us tell you if you use electric kettle in the train. So how much fine can be imposed?

Why can’t electric kettles be used in trains?

Indian Railways has set rules for traveling by train and all passengers have to follow those rules. You can’t do anything in the train like you do at home. You cannot use an electric kettle on a train. The power supply of a train is not like a domestic system. Here the load is fixed and the wiring of the coach is also made accordingly. Electric kettle, induction, heater, press or other high wattage appliances draw more load.

Also read: What to do if the company does not give gratuity after one year of service, where can you complain?

Due to this, the pressure on the system line of the coach increases and there is a danger of overloading. In many cases, incidents of sparks, breaker falling or smoke filling have been reported. Railways takes such accidents very seriously. Because hundreds of people travel in the coach. This is the reason why only low-wattage devices like mobile, power bank or laptop are allowed to be charged in the train.

Also read: These mistakes while operating a geyser can be costly, even a little carelessness can create danger.

How much fine can be imposed?

Operating any kind of high-wattage electric equipment in the train is a violation of the rules. If anyone is caught using an electric kettle or similar high-wattage device in a train, a fine can be imposed under the Railways Act. The amount is decided depending on the seriousness of the case.

Under Section 153 of the Railway Act, there is a provision for fine and imprisonment up to six months. If this action causes damage or creates a situation like fire and smoke in the coach, then Section 154 may be applied. In which there is a provision for fine and imprisonment up to two years.

Railway Waiting List Types: Crores of people travel by train every day in the country. Indian Railways is not only the fourth largest network in the world. Rather, it is also an important part of the everyday life of crores of passengers. Due to such a large scale of ticket booking every day, it is not possible for everyone to get a confirmed seat. This is the reason why Railways has created different waiting list categories.

So that the booking system continues to work in an easy and systematic manner. Many people go to the waiting list while booking tickets. But they do not know in which waiting list the confirmation is received quickly and in which it is not. It is important for any traveler to know this so that the journey can be planned in a better way. Let us tell you the complete details.

What are the different waiting lists of trains?

There are many types of waiting lists in Indian Railways. Which have their own different meaning. The most common among these is GNWL i.e. General Waiting List. Which is connected to the station from where the train starts. If you have booked a ticket from the originating station and the seat is full. So your name goes in this list. Apart from this, RLWL i.e. Remote Location Waiting List is for those passengers who travel from any intermediate station.

Also read: If you make these mistakes with your phone, it may explode

PQWL i.e. Pool Quota Waiting List is for specific stations. Where the quota of seats is limited. Whereas TQWL i.e. Tatkal Waiting List is made for tickets booked through Tatkal quota. And this list is confirmed last. Apart from all these, there are some other categories like RLGN. Which is decided according to the route and station of the train.

Which waiting list gets confirmed first?

Now the question arises that which of these lists gets confirmed the fastest. According to railway rules, GNWL i.e. General Waiting List tickets are confirmed first. Because in this the cancellation is directly linked to the starting seats of the train. If tickets booked from originating stations are cancelled.

Also read: Government is giving Rs 10 lakh to Rekha who lost her life in Delhi blast, know how to get compensation?

So GNWL people get priority. On the contrary, in RLWL and PQWL, tickets are confirmed only when already booked tickets on the same routes are cancelled. Whereas in TQWL the chances of confirmation are very less. Because seats in Tatkal quota are limited.

Railway Rules For Ticket Upgradation: Crores of passengers travel by train every day in the country, for whose convenience the Railways runs thousands of trains. Many rules have been made by the Railways for the passengers traveling in trains which are for their benefit. One of these is the ticket upgradation scheme. Under which passengers with sleeper class tickets can also travel in AC coaches.

This rule is especially beneficial for those passengers who want a comfortable journey but AC seats are not available at the time of ticket booking. This scheme of Railways gives passengers an opportunity to travel in higher class without paying any extra fare. Let us know how this scheme works and on what conditions it is applicable.

What is the Automatic Upgradation Scheme of Railways?

This scheme of Railways has been started in the interest of passengers. So that the vacant seats of the train can be utilized properly. When in a train the AC coach seats remain vacant and the sleeper coach seats are completely filled. Some passengers are then automatically upgraded through the system.

No additional fare is charged in this scheme. That is, if you have a sleeper ticket and luckily an AC seat is vacant. So you can get a chance to travel in AC on the same ticket. While booking tickets, passengers just have to choose the option of Yes for Auto Upgrade.

Which passengers will get the benefit and what are the necessary conditions?

This facility is available only to those passengers whose tickets are confirmed. Waiting or RAC ticket holders are not given the benefit of this scheme. Apart from this, this scheme is not applicable on group booking or special train tickets. If your ticket is upgraded.

So after the train chart is prepared, your coach and seat number will be changed to AC coach. Upgrade is completely free i.e. comfort of AC on sleeper ticket. Passengers definitely get benefits from this scheme. Along with this, Railways also gets the opportunity to earn additional income from its vacant seats.
