The option scheme is the facility of the Railways in which the waiting tickets are allotted confirmed seats in another train. That is, if the ticket is not confirmed in your booked train, then the railway can give you a place in another train.

Tatkal tickets are available directly from booking, while in the option scheme, the passenger has to join it at the time of booking. After this, if the ticket was not confirmed. Then the system itself allotes the seat in another train. No extra charge has to be paid for this.

Both these options provide great relief to the passengers. Crowd seasons such as Diwali and Chhath travel immediate and option schemes can prove to be helpful in getting confirmed tickets to the passengers. However, there is no 100 percent guarantee. But chances are more.
