The monsoon has once again returned across the country. On the day of Rakshabandhan, on today i.e. Saturday (August 9, 2025), there was rain in many places. The torrential rains started late Friday night in the country’s capital Delhi, due to continuing till Saturday morning, there was waterlogging in many areas and traffic was severely affected.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘red alert’ of heavy rains in North, Western, Southern, South-Eastern and Central Delhi in the early hours of Saturday, which was later reduced to ‘Yellow alert’ and people were advised to be vigilant.

Rain is expected on Saturday at many places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Especially in eastern UP and North Bihar, heavy rains have been expected. In some areas, a situation like waterlogging and flood can be created, so people have been advised to be vigilant. The Meteorological Department has issued Yellow and Orange Alert.

Due to heavy rains in Delhi-NCR, there has been waterlogging in many places. Due to the weather of Delhi, there has been traffic jam on the roads, while more than 200 flights have been affected. Advisory for passengers has been issued by Delhi Airport.

Talking about the hilly states, there is a cloud in Sharrod Nala in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. However, it is a matter of honor that no one was hurt in the incident, but the water level of Barogi drain adjacent to Sharrod Nala has increased considerably. Please tell that Chandigarh-Manali highway is closed due to landslide.

In Uttarakhand this year, 65 percent extra extra weather has been seen in the days of monsoon so far, which was 33 percent in 2022 and 59 percent in 2024. This clearly shows that the situation is getting worse every year.
