Rainfall in Delhi: Light showers started in Delhi and adjoining NCR areas from 2.00 pm on Thursday (30 October). Meanwhile, Delhiites troubled by smog and pollution got a sigh of relief. Hopes are being raised that the work which artificial rain could not do, will now be done by natural rain and there will be some improvement in AQI.

Let us tell you that due to pollution, Delhi remained wrapped in a blanket of smog and fog since Thursday morning. The air of the city was in ‘poor’ category for the last few days, which has now fallen to ‘very poor’ category. According to the Pollution Control Board, AQI 357 has been recorded in Delhi, which was 279 a day earlier.

The ventilation index is also in a worrying situation.

With the decline in air quality, visibility has also reduced in many parts of the city. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the city’s ‘ventilation index’ remains below the optimum level of 6,000 square meters per second. This index indicates the atmospheric ability to disperse pollutants.

According to the ‘Ventilation Index’, weak winds with a speed of less than 10 km per hour and dense fog have prevented the pollutants from being dispersed, resulting in a hazy sky, PTI reported.

This was the visibility in the areas of Delhi

The IMD recorded visibility of 1,000 meters in Palam and 800 meters in Safdarjung at 7:30 am. The air condition remained calm at both the places. Areas like Dutta Path, Anand Vihar, Burari and Akshardham remained covered with fog in the early hours of the morning.

According to CPCB data, the air quality in Vivek Vihar and Anand Vihar reached ‘severe’ category, where the AQI was recorded at 415 and 408 respectively. A total of 33 monitoring stations in Delhi recorded air quality above 300, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
