The national capital Delhi received heavy rains at many places on Tuesday (July 22). Due to this, waterlogging has occurred on many roads of Delhi. Not only this, due to pits built at many places, traffic jams occurred due to uprooting of the recently laid asphalt on some roads. Because of this, people had to face a lot of problems.

ITO, Old Rohtak Road, Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-8), Mehrauli-Bedarpur Road, Mehrauli-Guraugram Road, Piragadhi to ISBT (Interstate Bus Station), Madhuban Chowk, Delhi-Ghaziabad and National Highway-9 were in heavy jams for several hours.

Mehrauli-Badarpur route jam affected the most

The Mehrauli-Badarpur route was the most affected, where there was a jam till noon. People resorted to social media platform ‘X’ to share their problems related to being stuck in jam for hours. A passenger said, “I left for Gurugram from Delhi at eight in the morning, stuck in a jam near the airport. There was a huge jam. In two hours, he was able to cover the distance of only 18 kilometers.

Traffic stalled from Nangloi towards Najafgarh

Another ‘X’ users wrote, “It took me two hours to cover a distance of 30 kilometers on the Gurugram-Delhi route.” Traffic from Nangloi towards Najafgarh was completely stalled. Another passenger told that he was stuck in a jam for more than 30 minutes to travel just one kilometer on the Delhi-Ghaziabad road.

Traffic police accused of not issuing timely alert

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Safdarjung Hospital and roads leading to the ashram were jammed in many parts of South Delhi. Many people also accused the Delhi Traffic Police of not issuing timely alerts or not deploying police personnel to handle the situation. A passenger said, “Not a single person of Delhi Police or Delhi Traffic Police is present for help. Many people were stranded for hours due to heavy waterlogging on Mehrauli-Badarpur road.
