Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal on Wednesday (March 25) said the United Democratic Front (UDF) will approach the Election Commission against Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar and accuse him of not giving complete details of assets in the nomination papers filed for the elections.

What did AICC General Secretary Venugopal say?

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Venugopal said this is a “clear violation” of the Representation of the People Act. He claimed that Chandrashekhar did not disclose in his affidavit a property located in Koramangala, Karnataka, even though he had paid tax of Rs 5,02,085 for it on March 17, 2026, just before the election notification. He said that this same asset was declared during the 2024 elections and now its removal raises serious questions.

Accusations made against the Election Commission

Venugopal said that as per Election Commission rules it is mandatory for candidates to make full disclosure of all their assets, yet the nomination was accepted. The Congress leader alleged that a recently issued Election Commission circular, which reportedly has the BJP’s seal of approval, should also be seen in this context. He said that UDF will use all legal options in this matter.

UDF claims easy victory in elections

Regarding the upcoming assembly elections, Venugopal expressed confidence that the UDF will get an “easy victory” and the people of the state have made up their mind to change the government. He said, “The time has come for UDF. Kerala needs change and the government in the state will change.

LPG called a big election issue

The Congress MP also termed the increase in LPG prices as a big election issue and said that common people, especially women, are facing a lot of problems due to this. He said that wherever he goes, there is discussion about the LPG crisis and this is a clear sign of public dissatisfaction.
