The Election Commission has announced elections for 24 seats to be vacant in June-July. Apart from this, the date of by-elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu has also been announced. The tenure of 24 members of Rajya Sabha in 10 states is going to end in June-July. The Commission has announced the election dates for all these 24 seats.

When will the elections be held on the vacant seats of Rajya Sabha?

The Election Commission will issue a notification on June 1. June 8 has been kept as the last date for filing nominations.

The election process is going on for 37 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states of the country. 26 out of 37 candidates have been elected unopposed. Meanwhile, there is a dilemma regarding the Rajya Sabha seat of Haryana. The voting process has been stopped here. National President of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to the Election Commission of India demanding its intervention.

What did Kharge allege?

In this letter, Congress National President Kharge has raised many questions. He has written that a clear attempt is being made to interfere in the fairness of the elections. The Election Commission should immediately stop and correct this.

He has written in the letter that our valid voters or the votes cast cannot be disqualified. This is clearly a clear attempt to discredit and derail the election process.

Asked for an appointment with the Election Commissioner before declaring the results.

Apart from this, in the letter he has asked for time to meet the Election Commissioner. It is written in it that we are requesting to meet you through a delegation led by Congress leader Dr. Manu Singhvi and many senior leaders. In the letter, time has been sought to meet before the election results are released. This letter has been written amid the ongoing Rajya Sabha election voting in the House.

What is the problem in Haryana?

Voting for two Rajya Sabha seats of Haryana has been stopped as objections have been raised on two votes of Congress. BJP’s Gaurav Gautam and Kishan Bedi have objected to both the votes. At the same time, Congress has also expressed objection to the opinion of Minister Anil Vij. Counting of votes has been halted for more than an hour. Gaurav Gautam is also the polling agent of BJP and Kishan Bedi is the election agent of BJP.
