Former Union Minister and newly elected BJP MLA Rameshwar Teli took oath as Assam Minister on Tuesday. Before the swearing-in programme, he expressed his gratitude to Himanta Biswa Sarma. His statement came when his name was announced for inclusion in the new Assam cabinet. He said that he will continue to work for the development of all sections of the society and the state.

While talking to journalists in Guwahati, he had said that I thank the Chief Minister for giving me this responsibility. The swearing-in day will be a historic day in the political journey of Assam, as PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several Chief Ministers and Union Ministers will attend the ceremony. Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who won the Duliajan assembly seat in the recently concluded Assam assembly elections. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced his inclusion in the Council of Ministers on Monday.

What did Rameshwar Teli say before taking oath?

Teli said that he is committed to serve the people of Assam and will continue to work for every community of the state. First of all, I am an Assamese. Wherever I have worked, I have always tried to serve the people with complete honesty. I have worked for all communities and tribes and I will continue to do so in future also.

Rameshwar Teli strong leader of backward class

Teli has been a Union Minister of State in the Modi government. He is considered an influential BJP leader from Upper Assam. He enjoys tremendous support in tea plantation areas and Other Backward Class (OBC) communities. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won a landslide victory in the Assam assembly elections and won 102 seats in the 126-member assembly. The BJP won 82 seats, while alliance partners Assam Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front won 10 seats each.
