The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has reacted to the comments made by the US President regarding PM Modi’s political career. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has said that he will take appropriate action on this old viral video. Trump had made such remarks jokingly in October last year amid increased tension between the two countries after the trade deal and purchase of Russian oil.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, while replying to the media’s question related to the video in the weekly press conference, said that he has not seen the video. But if there is any such video then appropriate action will be taken.

Jaiswal said in a stern comment, ‘I have not seen the video. However, if there is any such video, whether true or false, we will take appropriate action on it.

What did US President Donald Trump say?

Trump had said this about PM Modi’s career on October 15, 2025. He had praised PM Modi a lot during that time. He had claimed that India has assured the US to stop buying oil from Russia.

Apart from this, Trump had said that PM Modi is a great man. Along with this, the PM was described as a leader who has stood the test of time. He had stressed that he loves PM Modi and Trump. After thinking for a few seconds, Trump quickly clarified that the word love should not be taken differently. He does not want to ruin PM Modi’s political career.

He further said, ‘Modi is a great man. He loves Trump… I don’t want you to interpret the word love in a different way. I don’t want to ruin his political career. Trump said these things jokingly.

Gave a strange statement after congratulating PM Modi

This video of Trump came a few days after wishing PM Modi on his birthday on September 17, when relations between the two countries were slowly getting back on track. After the recent trade deal and tariff reduction, relations between the two countries have moved towards strengthening.

China reiterated its territorial claims on Shaksgam Valley on Monday (January 12, 2026) amid India’s objections and said that its infrastructure projects in this area are absolutely justified. In fact, last Friday (January 9, 2026), India had criticized China’s infrastructure projects in Shaksgam Valley, saying that this is Indian territory and it has the right to take necessary steps to protect its interests.

In 1963, Pakistan handed over 5,180 square kilometers of Shaksgam Valley from illegally occupied Indian territory to China.

India never recognized China-PAK agreement- Jaiswal

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘Shaksgam Valley is Indian territory. We have never recognized the so-called China-Pakistan border agreement made in 1963. We have been continuously saying that this agreement is illegal and invalid. He said, ‘We also do not recognize the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), because it passes through Indian territory, which is illegally and forcibly occupied by Pakistan.’

Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India- Jaiswal

In response to a question related to China’s infrastructure projects in Shaksgam Valley, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inseparable part of India. This has been clearly told to Pakistani and Chinese officials many times.

China reacted to India’s comment

Responding to Jaiswal’s comments, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference held in Beijing, ‘First of all, the area you are mentioning is part of China.’ He said, ‘China’s infrastructure activities in its own region are absolutely justified. China and Pakistan had signed a border agreement in the 1960s and the border between the two countries was fixed. This is the right of China and Pakistan as sovereign countries.

What did the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry say about CPEC?

At the same time, when criticized by India regarding CPEC, Mao reiterated Beijing’s old stand and said that it is an economic initiative, the objective of which is local economic and social development and improving the lives of the people. He said, ‘Such an agreement and CPEC will not affect China’s stand on the Kashmir issue and China’s stand on this issue remains unchanged.’

What is China’s stand on Kashmir issue?

China’s official position on the Kashmir issue is that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute has been long-standing and should be resolved appropriately and peacefully in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements. China has been reiterating this stance.

There is intense discussion on the statement of US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick regarding the ongoing talks on trade deal between America and India. He said that PM Modi had not called US President Donald Trump regarding the trade deal, hence the deal could not be done. The Indian Foreign Ministry has rejected his claim. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that PM Modi has spoken to Trump eight times.

PM Modi talked to Trump 8 times: External Affairs Ministry

On the statement of US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick, the Foreign Ministry said, ‘India and America have been negotiating a trade deal since February last year. Both sides have held several rounds of talks. The description of these discussions in the reported comments (statement of Howard Lutnick) is not true. We look forward to completing this deal. In the year 2025, there was a phone conversation between the Prime Minister of India and Trump on 8th, in which various aspects of our comprehensive partnership were discussed. We have come several times to finalize the deal.

MEA statement on India-US trade deal

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘India and the US were committed to negotiating a bilateral trade agreement since February 13 last year. Since then both sides have held several rounds of talks to reach a balanced and mutually beneficial trade agreement. On many occasions we have been very close to agreement. We are interested in a mutually beneficial trade agreement between two complementary economies and hope to see it completed. Hope to complete.

Nothing has been finalized yet regarding the trade deal between America and India. Due to which India is facing 50 percent American tariff. Lutnik said in a podcast on Thursday (January 8, 2026), ‘All the agreements were ready and the deal was completely ready. Only talks were to be held at the level of both the leaders. PM Modi was supposed to call President Trump, but he did not.

The video of fugitive Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya’s party in London is going viral. The Indian Foreign Ministry has responded to this. During the briefing on Friday (December 26, 2025), MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Government of India is committed to bringing back all the fugitives. We will bring them back, we are in talks with many countries.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the press conference, “We are fully committed to ensure that those who are declared fugitives and wanted under the law in India, are brought back to the country. For this, we are in talks with many governments and other processes are also going on.” He said that there are many levels of legal processes involved in this, but we are committed to bringing them back to India, so that they can face legal action before the courts here.

Video went viral on Mallya’s birthday

Actually, this reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs of India has come after a video went viral on the 70th birthday of fugitive Vijay Mallya. This video was shared by India’s second fugitive Lalit Modi on his Instagram account. In this video, both of them described themselves as the two biggest fugitives of India. After Lalit Modi shared this video went viral on social media.

While sharing the video on his Instagram account, fugitive Lalit Modi wrote in the caption, “Let’s do something that will create a stir on the internet. Happy Birthday my friend Vijay Mallya. Love you.”

At the same time, many people close to Vijay Mallya had even traveled from India to Britain to attend his birthday.

India on Monday (December 8, 2025) issued an advisory for its citizens to take appropriate precautions while traveling to China or transiting through there to go to any other destination. New Delhi has given this advisory to its citizens two weeks after a woman from Arunachal Pradesh was stopped at the Shanghai airport. Chinese officials transit During this period, his Indian passport was refused to be accepted as valid.

The comment from Pakistan regarding hoisting of the sacred saffron flag over the Ram temple in Ayodhya has once again increased the diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan. India not only rejected Pakistan’s objections, but also called them an example of double standards.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clearly said that Pakistan’s criticism is neither factual nor has any moral basis. He said that a country whose history is full of fanaticism, dictatorial mentality and oppression of minorities is not in a position to teach religious freedom to a democratic country like India. Jaiswal also reiterated that the flag hoisting in Ayodhya is related to the cultural and spiritual beliefs of India and the opinion of any outside country has no importance in this.

Why did Pakistan raise objection?

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry in its statement had described the flag hoisted on the Ram Temple as an expression of Islamophobia. Pakistan said that this step reminds it of the events of 1992 and creates an environment of danger for religious minorities in India. Pakistan even said that international organizations should intervene in this issue.

India gave a befitting reply

India reacted sharply to this statement and said that Pakistan should pay attention to the deteriorating situation in its country before interfering in religious events in India. MEA said, incidents like pressure on religious minorities, forced conversions, attacks on temples and churches and human rights violations have been happening continuously in Pakistan. In such a situation, preaching about Pakistan is nothing more than hypocrisy.

importance of saffron flag

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the sacred saffron flag on the Ram temple during a special ceremony held in Ayodhya on November 25. This event symbolized the progress of temple construction, which was celebrated one year after the consecration. For millions of devotees, it was a cultural and spiritual moment which has no connection with Pakistan.

US President Donald Trump recently claimed that he talked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about buying Russian oil. Trump further said that PM Modi assured him that India will stop buying Russian oil. Now the Ministry of External Affairs has denied this claim.

The Indian Foreign Ministry made it clear on Thursday that there was no telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump yesterday (Wednesday). External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly briefing, ‘I have no knowledge of any conversation or phone call between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump yesterday.’

Trump had claimed to have talked to PM Modi
This statement has come after the recent remarks of US President Trump. Trump had said that Prime Minister Modi assured him that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. Trump described it as ‘a big step’, which will help in increasing global pressure on Moscow in view of the Ukraine crisis.

Trump said- ‘Modi is my friend’
When Trump was asked late on Wednesday night whether he considered India a reliable partner, he said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ He (PM Modi) is my friend. We have a very good relationship. I did not like that India was buying oil from Russia. He assured me today that now India will not buy oil from Russia. This is a big step. Now we will have to do the same with China.

MEA reiterated India’s policy
In response to these comments, MEA had already clarified that India’s energy policy is made keeping in mind only the national interest and the safety of Indian consumers. The ministry said that India is a large importer of oil and gas and its priority has always been to ensure stable prices and secure supply, for which imports are done from diverse sources.

US President Donald Trump had claimed that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him. Immediately after this statement of Trump, the reaction of the Foreign Ministry of India has come to the fore. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday (October 16) that India imports oil or gas keeping in mind the interests of the people here. However, he did not directly deny Trump’s claims.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said,India is an important importer of oil and gas. Our priority has been to protect the interests of the Indian consumer in the volatile energy scenario. Our import policies are completely based on this. Ensuring stable energy prices and secure supply have been two important goals of our energy policy. Under this, we are expanding our energy sources and also making many changes keeping in mind the market.

Talks are also going on with America on energy matters

The Foreign Ministry said, “As far as America is concerned, we have tried to increase our energy purchases for many years. This process has progressed continuously over the last decade. The current US government has shown interest in strengthening energy cooperation with India. “Talks are going on on this.”

What did Trump claim about India?

Trump has had a lot of problems with India buying oil from Russia. For this reason, he had also imposed 50 percent tariff on India, but Trump made a shocking claim on Wednesday. While talking to journalists at the White House, he said that PM Modi has assured him that now India will not buy oil from Russia. However, India has made it clear many times that it will continue to purchase oil from Russia keeping in mind the interests of its people.

Chittagong violence: The ethnic conflict between Chakma and Bengali original inhabitants in Chittagong hilly areas of Bangladesh has created an atmosphere of tension and fear in the entire region. According to media reports, Buddhist temples were damaged in the attacks, while loudspeakers in mosques were allegedly used to incite the Bengali crowd.

At least four minority men died and dozens of people were injured in this violence. India has also targeted the Bangladesh government over this violence.

India raised this demand

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that the interim government of Bangladesh has failed to maintain law and order and often tries to put its responsibility on others. He said, “They would be better to conduct a serious investigation into the action of local fundamentalists in their country, which are involved in violence, arson and occupying land against minority communities in Chittagong hilly areas.”

Afghan Foreign Minister has received special permission

A spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs said on a visit to Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttki to India that the United Nations Security Council Committee has given him special permission for a visit to New Delhi from 9 October to 16 October.

This thing said on the conversation with India-Canada

Randhir Jaiswal said that recently there was a meeting between the National Security Advisor of India and the National Security Advisor of Canada on 18 September. Both sides had a creative talks on increasing cooperation on bilateral issues and strengthening security cooperation.

‘Pakistan should be held accountable’

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen reports of protests in many areas of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the barbarity on innocent citizens by the Pakistani Army. Pakistan should be held accountable to its frightening human rights violations.”
