On the occasion of the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a specially designed postage stamp and a memorial coin of Rs 100 at a ceremony held at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi.

The RSS was established in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgver in Nagpur. He is known for volunteer-based social and service works. The organization has made significant contribution in areas like education, health, disaster relief and social service. Published postage stamps and monuments are a symbol of these contributions and honor the services of the organization.

On one occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this postage stamp has its own special importance. He reminded that in 1963 the RSS volunteers attended the Republic Day Parade on 26 January and had to tune the patriotism. PM Modi further said that this postage stamp cherishes the memory of the same historical moment. Also, it also has a glimpse of those volunteers of the Sangh, who are constantly engaged in the service of the country and are strengthening the society.

PM Modi said that there is a national mark on the coin on one side and on the other hand there is a grand image of Bharat Mata in Varad Mudra with Singh, in front of which the volunteers of the Sangh are seen paying obeisance with dedication. PM Modi mentioned that this is the first time that a picture of Bharat Mata has been marked on Indian currency. The realization sentence of the Sangh is also written on the coin- “Rashtraya Swaha, Idan Rashtraya Idan Mam”

The Prime Minister said that several attempts were made to stop the Sangh from getting into the mainstream, Guruji was sent to jail in false cases, but the Sangh never adopted bitterness. The volunteers of the Sangh are not different from the society, they are part of the society and they always maintained faith in democracy and constitutional institutions. PM Modi said that despite many challenging circumstances of the society, the Sangh is still adamant like a Virat Vat tree.

RSS Had started politics from

CP Radhakrishnan joined active politics as a RSS volunteer in the 70s. After this, he was elected a member of the State Executive Committee in the Jana Sangh. Tamil Nadu was elected BJP secretary after working as a worker for a long time in 1994.

Subsequently, in the years 1998 and 1999, he was elected twice as an MP from Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu. As an MP in the Lok Sabha, he worked as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textile.

CP Radhakrishnan was the Governor of Jharkhand and Maharashtra

CP Radhakrishnan has also been the Governor of Jharkhand and Maharashtra before being elected Vice President of India. On February 18, 2023, CP Radhakrishnan was appointed the Governor of Jharkhand on behalf of the central government. On the occasion of the completion of 100 years of the establishment of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat while addressing a program organized by the Sangh said that the Sangh works to connect the society, but does not directly interfere in the functioning of any organization. He said, “The thinking like Hindu versus all is not right, first people who call themselves Hindus should make their lives good. When they are organized, those who do not say Hindus will also come together. We do not believe that everyone needs to be the same to be one.”

It is progress to be agreed on one issue of different ideas- Bhagwat

Pointing to the democratic tradition, Bhagwat said, “The separation in the population of 142 crores is not a crime. But when hearing different ideas, an issue is agreed, then the same progress is.” Bhagwat also made it clear that it is not right to say that the country is left only due to the Sangh. The responsibility of the country is for the whole society, the government, leader, party and the public will have to do their work. The Sangh only tries to organize the society. “
